most motherboards have 3-pin fan connectors for the case fans, and sometimes you can use speedfan to control the fans, with those connectors. sometimes the motherboards will take over control of one of the 3-pin connectors, and only allow you to control the speed in the bios of the motherboard, at ...

Lots of good info there ces. I wish spcr would do a formal review on the GTs so we'd have a better comparison. Is it good to use the motherboard casefan control usually? Oh, and I thought I've read that push/pull is about 3dba louder than just 1 fan if they are the same. So is the GT 15 that close t...

if you're planning on overclocking your i5 750 you'll probably want to use something like the D1225C12B5AP-15 or the AP-14 on your Megahalem. with a CPU TDP of 95W you would probably be fine with the AP-14, this is completely dependent on your overclock though. I am currently using an AP-15 on my o...

case fans that run fixed speeds don't make sense to me... they are either too noisy for low power use, or they turn too slow to work well for high performance use. scythe sells a manual 4-fan controller that plugs right into the 3.5" bay of the p183, and it's dirt cheap... performance-pcs.com sells...

Just a suggestion - switch to an NH-D14 with some Nexus fans (or really any other decent static pressure 120x25mm fan). Costs more, sure, but you should be able to get "silent" with a moderate OC. The 750 doesn't generate as much heat because it doesn't have HT. From reviews I've seen the NH-D14 is...

P183 Quiet Fan Advice Please
Okay, making a core i5 750 build in an Antec P183. I plan to overclock using a Prolimatech Megahalem cooler. I'm looking for advice for case fans and HS fans that will provide a combination of good cooling but quiet. Not looking for silent as I don't think I'll be able to meet my OC plans with silen...

What do you all think about the following configuration? 2x Scythe Slip Stream SY1225SL12M - As intake (before drive bay) and out (behind TRUE cooler on case) 1x Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E - As top out (above TRUE cooler on case) 1x Scythe Kama PWM DFS122512L-PWM - As cpu fan (mounted on TRUE) Are you ch...

850w GPU is way overkill in terms of power, but the CP-850 is actually a fairly cheap powersupply and is from reviews I've read is very very quiet, especially when you are not maxing it which my system won't. So I get a cheap, powerful, upgradable, and quiet power supply. Seems the best of all world...

Re: Need Quiet Advice for i5 gaming rig
ASUS P7P55D-E Pro ...just a quick warning note on that mobo there's a high-pitched noise problem reported (given you want it silent) - well, as I could see with hundreds of those - seems that exact model is always the case, and in 'idle' (which is worst scenario IMO) - goes away if you turn off c-s...

Re: Need Quiet Advice for i5 gaming rig
I'm part of the silent community, but not an expert. My input: 1. I've run tests on my old i920 and my current i860. Push/pull really doesn't save more than 3C, even at 3.8GHz. I wouldn't bother with it unless you're benchmarking, and then you probably wouldn't worry about noise. I'm using a 1200rp...

If the Vapor-X on 58xx is noiseless it would be damn nice. Kept warranty +no VRM problems. Wonder when sapphire comes with a 5850 vapor-x I'm a bit sceptical of mounting my S1 R2 on a 58xx card as of the VRM temperature problems. It's out. First one out in the US is 5850 Toxic which is a more overc...

I'm using the Kingston SNV125-S2/40GB which is the same 40GB drive with a different label. I formatted the drive to 25GB and it currently shows 9GB used and 16GB free. As a general rule you want to format your SSD to 80% of the advertised size (the 20% rule stated in reverse) for performance reason...

Need Quiet Advice for i5 gaming rig
I'm looking for advice and tips on what I can do to make my planned gaming computer as quiet as possible. I'm not looking for silent and I plan to overclock but who better to ask for help getting a system as quiet as possible than at SPCR? Tentative planned build: Case : Antec P183 PSU : Antec CP-85...
