[Quiet] my ShareCenter

I have recently bought a DLink ShareCenter - DNS320 - as it was the cheapest NAS drive for me to test. I plan to use it in place of my Athlon file server. It works well as a server, and the file transfer speed is pretty similar. The only trouble is the fan noise. Is there any way I can replace the f...

Re: Clicking fans on fan controller

That's exactly what my dad said. His company make electrical transformers so he is more into electrical stuff than me. I phoned him last night and we were chatting it through. It is a possibility for sure.

Re: Clicking fans on fan controller

Do you know which controllers use the analogue method of reducing voltage?

Are any still available?

Clicking fans on fan controller

I have been running Scythe S-Flex E fans for quite some time now without problems. I ran them from a Scythe Kaze Server for a while also without issue. I recenly bought a Corsair Link Cooling Kit and straight away the fans started to click. I returned the kit and went back to motherboard control - b...

Best fans for H70?

I have an H70 with a couple of PWM Slipstream 1900rpm fans - SY1225SL12H-P. They work fairly well, keeping my 2600k @ 4.7GHz nicely. I have them controlled by the CPU fan controller on the motherboard (Sabertooth P67) and the pump from the assistant fan connector (at full speed). Are there better fa...

Re: Best PWM fan for CPU cooler?

Not meaning to sound dumb, but if the fan is controlled by the motherboard, it can be slowed down. The Coolermaster fans I have at the moment are 2000rpm, but they tend to run around 700rpm until they are needed to keep the CPU temp down.

Re: Best PWM fan for CPU cooler?

Yeah I had the Slipstream in mind - but was thinking of trying a different brand. I have sooo many Scythe's here!

Would a pair of Nexus PWM be worth trying?

Best PWM fan for CPU cooler?

I have a Coolermaster V10 cooler - a cooler which most people think is poo, however I have had good results with it. My old motherboard had a 3pin CPU fan connector, so I was able to replace the fans in the V10 with Scythe S-Flex Es. However, my new board P67 Sabertooth has a PWM connector, which do...

Are you using the stock fans with the case? If so - which ones are they and how do they compare to say a Scyte S-Flex E?

Re: High Performance - Low Noise Case

Thanks for the reply. You would be suprised how well the V10 works with Scythes as a quiet cooler. It ticks over with the fans at 500rpm - and keeps the CPU plenty cool enough. It is a bit of a monster though! I am just moving my components onto an Asus Sabertooth P67 - so hoping the downward facing...

High Performance - Low Noise Case

I currently have a Coolermaster CM690-II Advanced case. It has each of the 6 main fan bays filled with a Scythe S-Flex E fan (running at about 500rpm). I then use a Gainward Phantom GTX570 GPU and a Coolermaster V10 with the fans replaced with S-Flex Es. All in all, this setup is enough to keep my i...

Re: Gainward gtx 570 Phantom

It is a great card.

I wonder what two of the smaller 560 Phantom's would perform like in the sound stakes - even just one would make a good gaming case.

I have had this card for quite a while now, and love it - I hardly know my PC is on :)

Re: Passive GPU to power second screen

Bought the 5450 today for £29.99 so not bad.

It works perfectly allowing the GTX570 to idle.

I was a little worried about temps as the card is so close to the Phantom (a 3 slotter), but they have been fine.

I will post some pics soon!

Re: Passive GPU to power second screen

I use Afterburner already, to overclock the card, and have used the fan profiles for previous cards. I just fancied adding a new piece of equipment in as it has been a while... I have been having a bit of a read and am going to try an ATI 5450 - however, not sure how nicely the two drivers will play...

Re: Gainward gtx 570 Phantom

That is me :)

Silent during usual working day, but gets a little noisy when gaming (but then you cant hear it anyway over the game).

It has increased in noise since adding a second screen, and have just posted for advice on a second GPU for this.

Passive GPU to power second screen

I am currently running a Gainward Phantom GTX570 for both my screens (24" 1920x1200 and 23" 1080x1920 (rotated 90deg)). Since adding the second screen, the GTX fans have increased to handle the extra load and it has now become audible. What is the best passive card to get that will handle 1920x1080 ...

Re: Project Silent but Violent

Ahhhh such old pictures... I ditched the watercooling effort a while ago now and went for a Coolermaster V10 with Scythe S-Flex E fans. Also swapped my GPU to a Gainward Phantom GTX570. The system is now quite (pretty much silent) for day to day work, and only gets audible when gaming (at which poin...

It is indeed a Phantom :) It is the GTX570 version and sound pretty damn good! At full loaf (folding etc) it is noticeable, but definitely not hoover loud like the twin MSIs - very happy! Oh and while I am posting pics - here is my Coolermaster V10 with Scythe S-Flex Es installed instead (keeps my i...

Yeah since my last post, that is the GPU I have been looking at - it looks a beast!

From the reviews I have seen, it "sounds" like it is going to be quiet too.

Once my 2 GTX460s have been sold, it will be on order :D

Re: Best gaming class Silentish GPU

Sorry forgot to mention games. Mainly play BFBC2 at 1920x1200 res.

Have been looking at http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU11/188 for benchmarks - and they all seem to get over 60fps which is really my aim.

Currently thinking a 6950 unlocked to a 6970 - but are the coolers quiet?

Best gaming class Silentish GPU

I have been using an MSI GTX460 1GB and in a quest for more speed, I opted for a second in SLI. FPS increased, but so did noise - dramatically. My question is quite simple - what GPU performs in a similar vein to the 460s in SLI (I appreciate that I need to spend big bucks to get the same performanc...

I googled that but seems to be just reviews?

Also is the Scythe that quiet? I have used a Slipstream slim fan before, and it was quite a lot noisier than my S-Flex fans (don't get me wrong am a big Scythe fan).

pes, when you mention "they" do you mean MSI? If so do you know where I can find the firmware? My cards are about 6 months old, so probably running old firmware and would be great if I can just update it.

Worth replacing MSI Cyclone cooler?

I have two MSI GTX460 Cyclone 1GB cards in SLI. They are quiet (ish) at idle, but even after adjusting the fan speed using Afterburner, they are still fairly loud when gaming etc (although not too much of a problem as the speakers are louder). Are there any coolers that work better in an SLI setup, ...

I have a similar(ish) card - well two of them - MSI Cyclone 460s. The stock fan settings is pretty agressive, and I have adjusted it with the MSI afterburner, but not sure how hot I should allow the cards to get?

What pump do you use?

I currently run an EK2.2 pump which seems to be pretty good for quiet/silent use. At 80% it is barely audible, and even at 100% it is only just noticeable. However, I am thinking of adding the new EK RAM block to my loop which currently consists of EK-DCP 2.2 - 12V DC Pump and EK-Reservoir Combo DCP...
