Re: Fractal Design Define Mini

I received my Define Mini yesterday. Should have the remaining parts to build the system by early next week. For the most part, it's a nicely designed case of pretty good quality for the price. But, man, what were they thinking when they designed the front intake fans? (There are two 120mm fan posi...

Re: Fractal Define R3 USB 3.0 upgrade kit

Dear koitsu, Because the kits where produced and awaiting distribution here in Sweden when we found out the problem we recalled everything that was shipped out to local resellers and reworked everything manually. This was done before we shipped anything to Newegg and we still have not heard of any c...

Re: Fractal Define R3 USB 3.0 upgrade kit

I mailed NewEgg, since the product on their site shows the older (faulty) version with black screws, just to try and find out what exactly they were selling. Their response indicates more or less that as a customer you're playing Russian roulette with your purchase. This is exactly why changing mod...

Re: Fractal Define R3 USB 3.0 upgrade kit

Hi all, We are sorry to hear of the problems you had with the USB3 upgrade kit. We did in fact have a slight mishap during production where the screws (specifically for Define R3) were 1.5mm to short. They were reworked and replaced but there were a couple of USB3 kits shipped with the wrong screw. ...

Re: Fractal Design Define Mini

Most mATX form factor motherboards have only two USB3 connectors, which are external ports located on the rear of the board. The Fractal Define Mini has two USB3 ports on top. Is it possible to use those without having mid-board USB3 connectors? Of the two builds described in this thread, both appe...

It's now back in stock at Newegg. They just ran out of stock for a short while. There's absolutely no plans to discontinue this product.

Re: Fractal Design Define Mini

This is the exact case I was looking to buy for a Database Server I need to build for a personal project. For those that have it, any advice on particular HeatSinks, or can you give a better idea of clearance? I am going to attempt to run cooled solely by the exhaust fans (65W CPU, no Video Card) b...

Re: Fractal Design Define Mini

Whispercat: I must correct you on the bitumen matter - we still use bitumen on both the R3 and the Mini. The only change that's been made since the R2 is that there's a textile cover over the bitumen, making it a nicer look. The sound proofing characteristics are the same. The concern that we had fr...

I'm afraid that's not possible. However, you can remove all the trays you do not use, and get a reasonably open path for air flow.
