Re: Zalman goes bankrupt
They should have played the Xerox game and just copied successful, silent designs like every other successful company does when someone has a better idea. That and they needed better fans because I have had more Zalman fans fail me than any other brand. Currently have to replace the fan on my CNPS70...

Any watt results for a Phenom 9750 125w locked to 1 core?
I was wondering if anyone locked a Phenom 9750 125w CPU down to 1 core and if so, what are the wattage results. I have an MSI 785GTM-E45 with this CPU on it and since it's going to be n HTPC anyways, I figure a single-core won't hurt but with the design flaw of MSI's 3+1 phase voltage circuitry, I'm...

Re: Cannot locate low profile pci ATSC tuner. Need help
Low bitrate 720P, yes. True 720P rip. . . LOL. That answer that for you? The single channel memory controller as always, doesn't help things with the GMA 950 IGP and while I can OC the Atom to a whopping 1.7ghz without the occasional BSOD and reboot, that doesn't exactly help from what I have seen. ...

If/when I start driving again. I'll be left to pickup where I left off in looking at buying my own tractor and focusing on ways to make it operate more silently. Unlike many of my fellow drivers around me when I was on the road, I like hearing my surroundings when I drive and this is even the case w...

New sub forum "Silent Living" ?
Anyone ever given any thought to a "Silent Living" type sub forum to discuss quiet/silent versions of household products from AC units to microwaves and refrigerators? They all make noise and sometimes I actually wonder, what one is the quietest because what good is a dead silent PC when your house ...

Re: Cannot locate low profile pci ATSC tuner. Need help
Forgot to mention it needs Coaxial in and out which nullifies USB sticks. Also I cannot fit a full height Pci card in this case due to the placement of the HD cage as I will be adding a 3.5" HDD to the unit which will make the use of a full height card impossible ( because I'm too lazy to mod the ca...

Re: Blown inductor - repair feasible? (HD3870)
If everything still seems stable, you need to find out why this happened so it doesn't come back in spades. It is possible and it has happened that this is due to faulty solder joints causing arcing but the other possibility is a sever surge due to faulty components up the line. You want to make sur...

Cannot locate low profile pci ATSC tuner. Need help
I'm trying to repurpose a SFF D945GCLF2 box to HTPC duties but cannot, for the life of me find a decent low profile PCI ATSC tuner. Ideally, I'd like to be able to find something new with a remote but if I have to, which I likely will, used will work and I can pickup a remote later. If there are eit...

Faint ticking from D12SL-12's and D14SL-12's. IS this normal
I got all of my Yate-Loon D12SL-12's and D14SL-12's installed into my PC and I first noticed it when I was testing all of the fans prior to install but there is a faint ticking coming from all of the fans, the 120mm D12SL's and the 140mm D14SL's. Is this the norm for the sleeve bearing fans from yat...

Opinions on D12SL-12's and D14SL-12's
The real questions: #1: Are the D12SL-12's and D14SL-12's noticeably quiet #2: Will the horizontal position the D14SL-12 will be in cause a really noticeable increase in noise with their sleeve bearings? --- I could care less if the position could cause the fans to seize sooner as long as they last...

Nah, just didn't see the sense in making a new thread when I had an old one to resurrect
And the video cards NewEgg has are either old and insanely overpriced or too new and have HDMI and not Svideo like I need.
