I did some testing with my 905e, apparently it works with C2 stepping too. :D I didn't touch CnQ during my test, it remained enabled for both C1E options. When it's enabled my idle power consumption dropped about 10W. I am running undervolted with CnQ P3-State = 400Mhz @ 0.64V. Without C1E I have 75...

Here's another A05N owner :) ...and fellow countryman  I'm still waiting for a few parts to arrive, mainly Scythe Slip Streams to replace the Lian Li case fans. I'll open a new thread with pictures when the fans have arrived and have been installed. I'm currently undervolting my cpu while I'm ...

I have the Scythe Kabuto and I'm very happy with it. CPU is a quad core AMD Phenom II 905e (65W TDP). Highest temp recorded is 36°C during a Prime95 session with stock voltages and speeds, except for CPU NB, which is overvolted a little. Fan speed (stock Scythe Slip Stream PWM) was fixed to ~500rpm...

AMD and C1E

I was fiddling with the bios of my Gigabyte MA770T-UD3 motherboard and noticed C1E setting "Disabled".
I didn't even know AMD supported C1E, I thought this was an Intel thing. I have Cool'n'Quiet enabled, but what difference will it make if I switch C1E to enabled?

Thanks for the replies, they made me realise it's better to ditch the t-ban idea. I ordered a couple 800rpm scythe slipstreams and will undervolt them to the minimum necessary rpm to keep my system cool. It will turn out cheaper too :D.

How are your temps with the 4850e passive cooled? Is the cpu undervolted too? I was thinking about building a completely passive system with a picopsu. I have a Lian Li Q07 case (which has air vents all over the place) so any noise produced inside WILL escape this case. I also have a J&W 780G minix ...

Scythe Ninja Mini & AMD Sempron 140

Is it possible to achieve passive cooling with this combination, combined with a slight cpu undervolt if necessary?

Unfortunately not. I just bought the watt-tester two weeks ago. I now have the 905e on a regular ATX motherboard: Power consumption is about 65W idle. Under full load (OCCT power supply test CPU+GPU) power consumption is ~130W. System components are: BeQuiet PurePower L7 300W PSU Gigabyte MA770T-UD3...

My system is ready, only some minor details need attention. I'm very happy with this PSU, I disconnected all the fans to hear how loud it was and it's very silent to me. Because it's in a Lian Li A05N case, which has the PSU in the front it's even more silent because the front cover 'traps' the nois...

Well, he ordered Scythe slipstreams for the case (current system temp is ~27°C). The system is really quiet actually, we turned the fans down once and then the only audible noise is the seek noise. We can't even hear the drives spinning. He doesn't want a SPCR quiet system, but only quiten those se...

I dampened my car a few years ago with those (i think) 'bitumen' mats, I have a few boxes of those mats left, would those help with reducing hdd seek noise?
I have 2 varieties: 2,5mm (5kg/m²) and 4mm (8kg/m²).

Most of the drives are Samsung Spinpoints, there's also a Seagate 7200.12 IIRC.

HDD seek noise in Lian Li PC-A71

My brother has a Lian Li PC-A71 which is pretty quiet, only some faint fan noise can be heard. Those fans really are no problem, they are quiet enough, it's the hdd seek noise that's too loud to his (and my) likings. One, or all the drives are making a muffled 'dunk' noise, no rattles, just a solid ...

I had the 905e on a J&W Minix 780G, 2x2GB DDR2-800, ATI Radeon HD4670, 7200rpm Sata HDD, DVD burner, 1 case fan, 1 cpu fan.

This unit was powered by a 135W PSU, never had power problems with it. All voltages and frequencies stock.

I already have quite a few components, I was going to build a mini-itx pc last year but I gave up on that idea. I've ordered a Lian Li A05NB 8), the one with the upside down motherboard and 'reverse' airflow. I've seen some reviews about that case and the graphics card area seems to be a bit problematic because there is no direct airflow there. I may be ditching the front fan if the system & hdd temperatures ...

t-balancer miniNG bigNG with system sensors?

With system sensors I mean the sensors for CPU, GPU, HDD, SYSTEM that you can monitor with speedfan, hwmonitor, everest,...

Thanks for this review!

I was thinking of buying this psu for my new build but couldn't find any reviews to find out if it really was quiet. I just ordered the psu a few minutes ago now.
