Re: Skylake thoughts

For the boards also tested by SPCR the idle figures are similar to those in this table: http://uk.hardware.info/comparisontable/products/317176-317164-317473-318203-316434-320468-317166-317171-319143-317174-320607-317173-316330-320287-320257-324506-316324-317314-316948-319145-316326-316437-317165-31...

The following tool might be of use to some people - e.g. it is possible to sort by idle energy consumption http://uk.hardware.info/comparisontable/products/317164-317176-318898-316434-317171-320607-319143-317163 The above is a selection that I have made from Z170 motherboards they have tested with l...

Hybrid graphics under Windows 10 - especially Z170 boards

I have found very little information on is whether Z170 motherboards are capable of allowing hybrid graphics on windows 10 - the most concrete that I have found is https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn932812%28v=vs.85%29.aspx#system_fundamentals_graphics_hybridgraphics_multigp...

Re: Skylake thoughts

According to http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/skylake-intel-core-i7-6700k-core-i5-6600k,4252-11.html idle power of the CPU is a little lower than previous generation. As edh said idle power of the platform seems to depend on the mother board principally - though there does appear to be significan...

Re: Which ~budget 80+ Platinum

Your focus appears wisely to be efficiency at idle/low loads. For that and your other requirements I suspect that a Cooler Master V550S http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/CoolerMaster/V550S/6.html is still the best choice despite being Gold rather than platinum. I have had the V450S over a year now ...

The Overclockers.co.uk/Manli GTX 970 just got a German review as well http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.computerbase.de/2014-11/manli-geforce-gtx-970-im-test/3/&prev=search. Hi Lawrence,

Thanks for the review. Can you confirm something. Would I be right in thinking that what with power saving mode from page 6 enabled the idle power dropped to about 19W compared to the 24W on page 5?

I posted a mini review of the V450S in http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=66569 - I have had no problems since and have not heard the fan. It is a shame that there have not been more reviews of this series including by SPCR. There is one of the 450 model in Greek by the same au...

GPU Idle Power

Hi All, Not really a silent PC question but certainly the first place that I thought to ask. Different review sites get quite different idle power consumption differences between competing cards - to give a few examples: http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://ht4u.net/&prev=/se...

Now tested in English - http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GTX_750_Ti_KalmX/23.html It is interesting to note that the energy consumption figures at idle and other low power states are a touch higher than the reference board but that might be sample variance, other factors or it might be as I ...

Re: Cooler Master V650S

Welcome to SPCR! I am afraid that I can add very little about quietness of the CM VS series other than to note that the bearing of the V650S fan is supposed to be ball bearing rather than 'HDB' or sleeve bearing on the 450. However at idle I suspect the difference in noise will be minimal as the fan...

V450S arrived today. Much quieter than the CWT PUFP255P taken out. More importantly for me idle dropped from about 28W to about 23W from the wall according to a Maplin killawatt equivalent. A little noise with my ear against the exhaust, principally perhaps bearing noise or some other sort of clicki...

I do have some queries about the results - the results for the Antec EarthWatts Platinum 450W look a little too good and the results for the Seasonic Platinum Series Fanless 400W looks a little poorer than I would have expected. However, difficult to find comparable tests - perhaps a comparison that...
