Re: Next gaming build
I got the case and have migrated the components. Great case for gaming components. It redirects noise pretty well, so I can run the fans at higher RPM (I used Noctua for front fans). Fan controller had a crap connection though. I can't hear the WD RED I currently have in the case and didn't secure t...

Re: Next gaming build
That's how I mounted the HDD - it sits on the grommets in the tray and the thumbscrews attach through the grommets. I haven't messed around with it to see if the seek noise is amplified by this mounting and/or if suspension would reduce it. It's fairly quiet as is. The main use of the HDD is for me...

Re: Next gaming build
I have a few questions if you don't mind. :) I am moving my gaming system from a Corsair AIR 540 to a R4 due to a need of more mechanical HD space and to tinker a bit with new hardware. Getting the case tomorrow. 1. From Hardwareheavens video review of the R4, one of the differences pointed out from...

Re: Western Digital Red 3TB & 1TB Hard Drives
The WD RED 3TB is the most balanced mechanical harddrive I've had and my ears thank you for making this review! Its the most quiet mechanical hard drive I've used in sense of vibration, seek noise and such.

Re: Silverstone FT04?
I'm a bit curious about this case as well. Since I have both the FT02 (main gaming machine) and the TJ08-E (light gaming/htpc), I'm a bit impressed with Silverstones AP181 and the airflow/noise ratio in these cases with the AP181 (after putting fans on a fan controller with FT02 and a resistor for t...

Re: Silverstone AP182 request
Silverstone already has a 500rpm 180mm fan. http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=222&area=en Thanks. :) Yes, they do have 500 rpm FM fans, but I am particulary interested in their new Air Penetrator (AP) 180 mm, AP18 2 . I currently have AP18 1 which I have lowered RPM on with a 3.5" fan c...

Re: Silverstone AP182 request
Are you talking about fans or a case? What case or what fan? Fans. The case I am using, the Silverstone FT02, comes with 3X AP181 180mm fans. In the video, Silverstone talks about their new AP182 180mm fans which has a lower RPM settings then my current ones (500RPM vs. 700RPM). I am using a fan co...

Silverstone AP182 request
As title. At 8:43 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx6EItUYYv8 Could Silentpcreview ask Silverstone to get a sample and test these? :) They are supposed to be from 500rpm and up to 2000rpm. Silverstone is launching them this march if the info in the video is correct. Would have loved to buy them for m...

Re: Upgrade P182 to...
the hdd cage vibration is probably a fluke with my particular case, since i haven't seen anyone else mention it(?)... i've had all of the fans turned off at one point or another, it was definitely coming from the hdd cage... it wasn't that it was audible so much as you could feel it with your hands...

Re: Upgrade P182 to...
So, can I do better than P183? I've been considering FT02 but I think it will be too loud for me and Fractal Design R2 but I'm afraid it'll be too flimsy after P182. read the p183 vs. ft02 thread further down the page: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=60221 i ended up movin...

Using tape for silencing
I have searched the forum and can't find any tests about using tape (like ductape) for silencing purposes. I'm spesifically thinking about using rubber based tape on detachable parts like hd tray. The theory is that metal again metal creates larger noise then if you have a material inbetween that do...

Nice first post Tamlin. That earns you the traditional Welcome to SPCR! Thank you! :) Much appreciated. I did have an account earlier, but almost all posting was in 2008 in the newbrief section. The account was deleted and MikeC recommended me to re-registering it again. I've been an active silence...

The important thing you forgot to mention is how does it sound? I got the X-750 yesterday and plugged it in with only GPU fan running. Harddrives and optical was disconnected except the SSD. It was dead silent in idle from 20 cm distance. If I put my ear onto the PSU, I could hear a faint sssh soun...
