Re: Antec Kühler H2O 620 Water cooler

I have a D5 pump suspended like the harddrives in the various suggestions here at SPCR and I do not here the vibration noise anymore. My fans on the radiator are silent before mounting but once mounted the air funneling through the radiator and shrouds are the most invasive noise of my machine. I ru...

I am a big proponent of shrouds as well. The GT's have great reviews for noise.

Quick upate on the ABS Tigas 100% aluminum case: *I stripped the case down of all removable panels and used silicon on all the joints that are riveted to prevent rattling of the infrastructure. *I removed the foam padding on the side panels and applied bitumen and reapplied the foam. *The top hard-d...

Sorting through all watercooling communities, those that are looking for quiet computing will say that all brands of water pumps exhibit electrical noise at stock voltage. I would not expect a budget pump to be any different than the norm. The typical noise is worse than a quality fan and is usually...

The data collected looks repeatable, useable, and accurate so the testing is valid. I like the the fact that during the summary you include the hypothesis of what a less restricted heatsink would do and therefore inferred is what a greater restriction would do. I like the RPM being the common factor...

I too voted air even though I am a dedicated watercooling proponent. In both air and watercooling setups you will have case fans. With air only setups you can minimize or eliminate heatsink fans using the case flow with small enough cases or ducted air etc. Watercooling systems while removing one fa...

Postulating from the electronic components available for manufacturers to use, the smallest voltage regulators are 200 milliamp to 500 milliamp which cost on average $ 0.69 while a larger 1.5 amp version retails $1.89 so at the very least you can assume a safe range of .2 to .5 amp range without bur...

if you were an overclocker, you'd understand why temp-controlled fans matter; running a fan constantly at full speed is rather annoying Sorry to take this review off topic since the hyper 212 performed better, admittedly marginal, using a constant (reference fan) instead of two variables (independe...

Let us make the link more friendly for others: http://img101.yfrog.com/gal.php?g=dsc0558cz.jpg The easy answer is an 80 mm fan. The large amount of work option would be a 120 mm if you cut that entire area and use a piece of sheet metal (steel or alu) to make a mounting bracket that rivets to the tw...

You did a great job with the installation and the case looks great. The wire management does make the case look bigger than it is.

This is probably your worst test to date. Its ok to address a group of people who prioritize silence but to assume none of them overclocks is a mistake. I thought this review was pretty straight forward and am shocked to see all these confused replies. Using the reference fan, the Hyper 212 outperf...

I really like the theory of the Reserator towers but would rather see them in copper/brass. I really like seeing Ascl's posts since he always links references as backup for the explanations. Good thread.

Can someone post some temperatures along with details on fans if used?

I thought I would mention some cons to watercooling since you have not invested money into components yet. First, mounting the radiator usually involves more work than you realize. Second, mounting everything else involves more work (big smile here). Third, cleaning maintenance on blocks/tubing/radi...

I recommend internally mounting a 320 radiator as an intake with some simple brackets in a 5 1/4 stack. There are quite a few cases that have 5 1/4 from top to bottom which makes this easy. There are plenty of watercooling websites to look at reviews about the immaterial amount of air temperature di...

I use the MCP655 and found the stock mount was horrible for transferring noise to the case. I use 3/4 inch tubing throughout and simply let the pump suspend in the case which cleared up all my noise. The pump is quiet enough that the case can muffle the electrical noise.

Most quality water pumps are rated for 50,000 hours MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) equivalent to 5 years lifetime. Generally, it should not matter whether the unitis on or off, except that among electronics certain components fail with specific events. For example, switches usually fail during the...

Watercooling in my opinion has noise that can be unique depending on your normal air cooling setup. For example, I use a 3x120 radiator and always have it as the intake source. All my fans are undervolted around 6.2 volts but I still hear a wind tunnel sound that is very faint. If I were on air cool...

Thanks for the replies. I figured the sound deadening material of bitumen would be used but was worried if it would be enough. New to Aluminum cases

First, I really like my watercooling setup and therefore wanted a large case. I bought the ABS Tigas case which is a Lian Li design with some minor changes. The case options I really liked and offered the least amount of modification required by me. The alternative case was the Lian Li A71F mostly b...
