Re: how quiet are water pumps[?]

Just going to toss in the fact that my PC is liquid-cooled and practically silent in its configuration. With PWM you can have the fans and pump run just under their audible threshold and accelerate when more cooling is needed. (Never happens in my system) The noisiest part of my system is the power ...

A 12cm Noctua should have no trouble keeping that cooler cool at a hard drive's noise level.

Re: Will this work (proposed silent PC build)

You might be okay cooling that CPU passively, seeing how that case has a huge open vent over the CPU area. Still, I'd monitor the temperature while it runs a movie or two. If you want to play it safe, you could order a pair of low-speed 80mm fans and undervolt them so the CPU cooler has a constant s...

Personally I swear by SeaSonic's PSUs, their X650 and Platinum 1050 fans never spun up except on really hot summer days or during heavy loads. Re: Help with Ncase M1 build

If I get CPU block pump combo and small res to place it out side the case then My config would be (look at the picture I linked before): Res.>CPU (right hole as in)>top rad (from CPU left hole)>GPU>bottom rad> back to res. That means I would have 2x 240mm slim rads with 4x 120mm slim fans spinning ...

Alternatively there is a company called Bitspower that makes tubular reservoirs with screw mounts which would be perfect for the horizontal grill back there. Which ones did you mean? In the picture attached you can see a slim rad and cans under GPU so I was thinking doing similar thing but with 2nd rad having on the side panel with fans on so that would be 2x 240mm rad where side rad would be intake, bottom intake and rest would be out creating positive pressure in the case. ht...

There are fanless USB 3.0 to Displayport adapters available for under $70, but I'm not seeing which revision they support.

Perhaps you could try one and see if it works at 60KHz?

There are fan power adapters that allow the fan to run at a constant 12v while passing the RPM signal to a header on the motherboard.

I found one on Ebay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-pin-to-4-pin- ... 1984200952

My rig is watercooled, CPU and GPU.

There are lots of options for GPU waterblocks, and there are PWM pumps these days that can run at low speeds. (Silently in my case)

EVGA makes video cards with waterblocks factory-installed (I believe they're EK rebrands) and they perform quite well.

I'm afraid that no 40mm fan I've ever heard has been quiet without being undervolted. As for your video card, I'm not seeing it on the compatibility lists for coolers I hold in high regard. Rather than investing in a cooler, perhaps you'd be better off getting a more modern card with a quiet cooler ...

I don't have one of those cases, but the motherboard looks like a solid option: Lots of PWM fan headers and it supports customizable fan speeds in the BIOS. As for the SSD, definitely go for the M.2. Windows 10 is available on USB drives and as a download, which you can burn to a disc.

As a technician who installs Windows on a daily basis, prefer the USB drives because they're faster and silent! :D
