Re: Phanteks 140mm fan question

Well does anyone know any other decent 140mm fans capable of such placement?

Phanteks 140mm fan question

Since these apparently are the best 140mm fans out there, I thought about replacing my Define R4 stock fans and put a third one blowing upwards in the bottom. But are these "UFB" bearings fit for that purpose like ball bearings?

Re: Replacement for Fractal Define R4 140mm stock fans

If your motherboard can control 3 pin case fans, I'd suggest the Antec True Quiet 140's. Great tone, pretty darn quiet. If you just hook them up to your R4's switch controller, they'll only drop to 550-600rpm in the low position. You can read more in my signature or just pop straight to the post . ...

Re: Annoying whistling from computer when internet browser i

It comes from the computer. When I press hard the 24pin motherboard molex it shuts up. Can it be the motherboard? It's also a highly positional sound, and reverting to stock clocks silenced it down to some extent.

Annoying whistling from computer when internet browser is on

Any kind of use like moving the mouse (only if USB speed is clocked high), produces a whistle sound. Right now its giving a constant *whiiii*, and if I close firefox the whistling immediately stops. Could it be the PSU (Seasonic X-750)?

Re: Quiet / Noisy Monitor Survey

Dell 2209WA - pretty low buzzing, have to find a sweet spot with brightness to have it more silent. But when theres a lot dark/bright on screen like a text document, it starts a loud "bzzzzzzzz".

Weird positional whine

I have 2x 800rpm GT and 2x 1150rpm GT running at ~800rpm in a Define R2 situated under my desk, and its pretty quiet before when I move my head to a certain position, then I hear a high pitched *whoooo* multiple times louder than when I keep my head 30cm closer to the monitor. Or when I listen next ...

it's the computer. And when I alt+tab out of the game, it's quiet while the screen is black.

Whistle/beep until I close all programs?

Even when I just browse the internet, at some point it begans to whistle/beep "wheeeeeehh - wheeeh...". Then I close browser and it quietens down. What could cause this type of noise?

Yeah I'll probably put this one to my other PC and take the WD640GB black (I can hardly even hear it through the sonata 3) from there, and buy a SSD for OS/games.

I changed the rubber pads to more softer and bigger ones and it seems to have tamed it down just a bit. But the HDD makes a continuous jet engine beep. The system quietens down to acceptable levels when I pull the power cord from it. Never had a HDD with this obvious noise. Even though the case has ...

Found the source - when I keep pressure on the GT in the front, the whine stops. And If I keep pressure at the right spot it starts whining loud. It's attached with a clip system. Changing the speed with a fan controller has a huge effect on the noise too. When I find a good level it seems to start ...

Asking too much from an air cooled setup?

Ok at the moment I got this kind of setup: Fractal Design Define R2 (coolers replaced with GT 1150 set to 90% speed at bios) Scythe Mugen 2 Seasonic X-750 Club 3D 5850 OC with the non reference cooler Samsung F3 1TB HDD Problem is the setup would be almost dead silent under the table if there wasn't...

Is the Seasonic X-750 supposed to make this noise?

Mine is making a similar noise to my Enermax Modu82+, I would describe it as like there was a tiny bit lack of oiling inside the bearings. It's not smooth, there's this pulsating grating noise when it's spinning (not loud though). Am I just being picky or what since it's almost like the Enermax? htt...

Slip stream 1200 vs Typhoon 1150 CFM

Is there any remarkable difference between these when running them at same rpm? I think I got a faulty slip stream with my CPU cooler because it's making a whiny droning noise even at 800rpm, so I'm thinking of fixing it with a GT 1150 but worried if it will be sufficient.

I have pinpointed a new noise source down to my PSU which is Enermax Modu82+ 525W. A tinnitus like super high pitched whine... it also audibly rattles when it's on the 30-60 seconds after shut down. I'm going to have to buy a new one. the scythe goes very silent at ~500rpm and it's the PSU whining o...

I tested it with fan controller and the high pitched whine gets much louder as I turn the fan higher and gets more silent as I turn it down.

Also the whine sounds clearly louder when I close the case?

mount a second fan on your mugen2, it'll help keep the temps down. do not replace the factory fan, there is nothing better on the market, the rpm range is designed for match high-performance useage... if you put a weak fan on there, the cooler will run hotter. I turned on PWM from bios and now it's quiet. But in gaming it boosts back to the 1400RPM. Would a GT 1150rpm be sufficient while keeping the max volume acceptable? I'll be fine without a fan controller if it's almost inaudible at 800rpm. Is there some general rule, e.g. you need more CFM for exhaust? Or is it good to have same amount of air being pushed in and out?

What kind of fan setup for Fractal Design Define R2?

I want a quiet system, that can handle a ~4GHz X6 1090T and a Radeon 5850. By quiet I mean it must do clearly less noise than Antec P180B with the tricools on low. After long thinking I've come to a conclusion that I should get 4x Gentle Typhoon 800rpm , and place them in front, back, top & bottom. ...

Ok so would you think placing a 800rpm Slip Stream in the front/back, and a 800rpm Gentle Typhoon at the top would be good? I heard the slip streams aren't good for horizontal placing.
