Another mATX budget gaming "clean" build (i5-6500/GTX1060)

Hello everyone, Following a VERY successful build I've previously completed following your advice here (i7 2600K/16GB/GTX560Ti/ASUS Maximus IV GeneZ/Ninja 4/Silverstone SG10): http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=68635 My older son now wants a "gaming" pc for his 16th birthday... whi...

Re: Scythe Ninja 4: A Legend Reborn

What would be a feasible fan upgrade if i want toOC an i7 2600k? Not to the extreme..but to a stable level? Would a Noctua A15 pwm or A14 provide a significant benefits over the stock 120mm? Or at least spin slower and less noise? Sandy Bridge is way less hot than Ivy Bridge/Haswell/Skylake, so it ...

Re: Help: silent, "shielded", mATX case to be put ontop the

If I were you, the Scythes (Ninja 4, Kotetsu, Mugen Max, Mugen 4 PCGH, check whether the latter two fit) would be my first choice, the Noctua C14/C14S the second best. Among the AIOs, along with the X41, I'd give also a look to the Silverstone Tundra series ( with different fans than stock ones ). ...

2) The case fans combination: - Top 180mm as intake - which I already flipped to exhaust... - Back120mm exhaust which I left... - Lower left - 2X92mm (optional) + 120mm intake - which I can't use due to PSU internal cable compatibility (unique "challenge" in this case due to the internal PSU positi...

An update.. and a new set of questions  I eventually got the SG10 considering the overall quality, size and after noticing the 2X80mm fans at the P50 back... Found an external ODD solution based on an old 5.25" external chassis I've had that I'll transform to eSATA. I installed most of ...

Re: Help: silent, "shielded", mATX case to be put ontop the

What would you choose? Personally, the Silverstones. I thought you would :) I actually liked the P50 design and the fact it enables me to use my current ODD (vs. the need to purchase a slim/slot ODD for the SG10). The main limitation for of the P50 for me was it's limited clearance of 13-14cm for t...

Hello again friends... After a great family vacation abroad, I came back to that build... Unfortunately local availability, free space and "budget constrains" limit my options to only these : 1) Silverstone Sugo SG09/SG10 : Pro's : Smallest volume of the 3, thinnest, with a slight modification to th...

Re: Help: silent, "shielded", mATX case to be put ontop the

It sounds like you need a floor standing tower case with a locking front door. Maybe an Antec P183... I have a VERY curious and highly active baby... I'm afraid the only effective mitigation is to move everything out of his reach... How big is your current case? And I think you need to explai...

Re: Help: silent, "shielded", mATX case to be put ontop the

Thank you so much for this useful feedback and corrections  Unfortunately, the TJ08E is not available locally... same with the SG11/12 which looked more appalling to me due to their form factor...or the FT03 which seem to be a bad choice anyhow... Kublai KL06 is a bit too big for me ... Coolte...

Re: Help: silent, "shielded", mATX case to be put ontop the

Looking again, the Sugo SG11 might be a better choice for me considering the size... even with a bit of modding to be really quite... I actually liked the FT03 form factor.. I think with a bit slowing down/replacing the bottom 140mm AP, I might get a very elegant solution - reviews put it in par wit...

Re: Help: silent, "shielded", mATX case to be put ontop the

Any recommendations? If you may swap the mobo, using a slim optical drive you might go really small with decent results. Well, I can easily swap the optical drive for a slim or even an external USB drive.... but I won't swap the mobo... so still need the mATX. Otherwise, the smallest mATX tower in ...

Re: A silent, "shielded", mATX case to be put on-top the des

Perhaps a Silverstone TJ08E? Why has EMI shielding suddenly become a concern? The TJ08E looks fine, but a bit too "deep" - only leaves 0.5cm for cables etc... Also, a bit too big generally - I don't need that much storage space.. So I'll look for something smaller, preferably with a front "door" an...

Help: silent, "shielded", mATX case to be put ontop the desk

Hello everyone, Due to a new "mobile" baby in the house - I need to raise my teenagers "gaming" rig on top of the desk. We'll utilize our existing HW but I'd like to replace the generic case to something less noisy, should be a bit "EMI" shielded (which became a major concern of my wife... 8) ), goo...

Hi - thank you for the good advices :) My HTPC case is an Enermax LAGUNA that comes with a generic 300W TFX PSU: http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/product_a1_1_1&lv0=2&lv1=24&no=48 I only measured the power draw at the wall with the above configuration (Win7 32bit) when Ideal =around 45W and at...

EDIT: how much power can you possibly save by replacing a green WD? The PSU is a more likely cause of wastage. I'd still use the WD green - only with an additional 2.5" HD as the system/temp drive - this way the WD Green may stay longer in low power/parked mode instead of spinning routinely - this ...

Thank you for the reply, I understand I won't get a significantly lower power consumption (nice to have thou) - but at least don't want to get a higher... (especially when ideal) - I don't expect the electricity savings to cover the cost - it's more of "green" ideal for me :) I don't really need a "...

Hello again guys, I took some time to rethink the matter and "calibrate" my priorities and budget. The current setup is indeed already pretty efficient with only minor mods and settings (PSU is the original 300W SFX unit) - it ideals at around 45W and doesn't go above 90W even when stressed. BTW - t...

WLAN is not really required - Gigabit Ethernet is ! DDR2 and good sound are also beneficial to me... What about solutions based on CORE i3/...

Low Power MB/CPU combo for a small HTPC/NAS ?

Greetings, My HTPC is currently built around ASUS M2NPV-VM (onboard GF 6100)+ AMD Athlon X2 4450e (45W). It's housed inside a compact ENERMAX LAGUNA (mATX/Low profile) with Scythe BIG SHURIKEN as the CPU cooler and the main intake fan. HD is WD Green 1TB. This PC is working pretty much 24/7 and used...
