Re: Mini-ITX Gaming PC
How about Antec Fusion case? Or you can look at Lian Li C series (HTPC) cases. There are many m-ATX cases that would fit you. They would have more room and better cooling. I would look at bumping CPU to i5, but in either case you might want to look at going aftermaket CPU and GPU coolers if noise is...

Re: A "little" AMD Phenom II upgrade, 425W for the job
I would agree with Luca, 425W will be plenty with that graphics card. 1055T might be a better choice as it has 2 extra cores. Can't hurt :) and neither can waiting for january launch of Sandy bridge. Or there might be some good deals on these parts around Christmas. :) Hard to say on cooling. Stock ...

Re: cooling in tight spaces
All the settings in BIOS are set to auto. Put them on enabled, and got BSOD (CPU voltage according to CPUID still was higher then when at load), set them to auto again and got another BSOD. I had Vcore at 1.06 both times so bumped it to 1.10 again. Irregardles of BIOS settings CPUID shows power draw...

Re: cooling in tight spaces
Will set it to 1.05 Vcore and see if runs stable for a longer period. When running prime CPUID reported CPU voltage at 1.06, even stranger though was that when idle it is at 1.10. Have you properly setup the bios (I mean EIST, C1E and so on)? ehh.. what now? I just droped the Vcore to 1.10 and that...

Re: cooling in tight spaces
hybry will find, after his testing, how many celsius degrees and how many dB he may need to spare. And maybe he'll find out a Samurai ZZ is more than enough. Or not. Seems like undervolting the CPU can do a lot for temps. Got home and ran Prime95, with CPUID and CoreTemp checking temps. They got cl...

While in game my max temps are between 60-70C according to CPUID in about an hour game time of CoD:BO I suppose I should do a test just to see what happens with some heavy CPU bench. Yes, it's a rather useful way to spend some of your week end time. More useful than read my considerations. W...

Re: cooling in tight spaces
Well Samurai ZZ is on SPCR recomended list so guess I should be fine. Your guess it's fine: it's a solid and quiet performer, but not the best in your specific application (tight spaces). See also what happen to noise and temp rise with a much hotter Nehalem. I am happy with temps of around 60-70C....

Re: cooling in tight spaces
Well Samurai ZZ is on SPCR recomended list so guess I should be fine. As I said the AXP is only on a handful of online retailer sites (and the most reliable ones) in addition in all is listed as not available, so in best case I can back order. Which will take lot of time. Already at the moment the p...

I have not done much testing on the system yet, but in a brief stint playing Black Ops temps did not shoot past 77C according to CPUID. The system is a follows: GA-H55N-USB3 Core i5 760 4GB 1333Mhz Radeon HD6870 Enermax Pro82+ 2x WD HDDs (old 500GB one and 2TB Green) would you say it is worth replac...

Re: cooling in tight spaces
If we purely compare the Samurai zz and Intel stock, Samurai ZZ should outperfom the stock one both on noise and temperatures right? AXP is off the table, more expensive as is, plus a decent fan, just too much cost for me at the moment. In addition now available so in best case I can back order whic...

Re: cooling in tight spaces
Is it safe to unplug a molex connected fan with system running? Until you won't touch anything conductive (I don't see how, but everything can happen), IMO definitely yes: just don't do this at full load, or you'll likely to fry your CPU. Or you may try without the PSU in place: use a toothpick or ...

I recently built myself a new mITX system with i5 760 on GA-H55N-USB3 board all in Lian Li Q08 case. It is a gaming build and I have HD6870 in it as well which seams to fairly quiet when ideling. Not to mention Pro82+, which is relatively inaudiable. Now I do not mind a slight noise when ideling and...

Hi. I am interested in this topic because I too am after a 400-500 watt psu that is very quiet. The enermax pro and modu82 425 watt looks like a awesome supply! The problem is it is discontinued everywhere I look :( Does anyone know where to purchase one? Also if they are discontinuing it, would it...

Re: does graphic card fit when using shuriken on H55?
Strange, I am sure I have seen pictures where it fit. It had about 5mm clearance from GPU. I might be mistaken thoughteq wrote:Unfortunately I can confirm from my own experience that the Shuriken Rev B does NOT fit the H55N-USB3 board - it blocks the PCIe slot.

Re: Where is the noise coming from?
Do a pencil eraser test. Turn the computer on, open up the side panel, and carefully tap a pencil eraser onto the center hub of all your fans. This will slow it down instantly, and if you hear the obnoxious noise go away, you found your source. Was going to suggest the same thing. Of course do not ...

There is NO room to store cables between PSU and side panel -- only on the bottom and that will be ytoublesome when you install a video card. I strongly recommend a PSU with modular cables. Esp. one that lets you pull most or all of the cables, like the Seasonic X series. I've seen both X560 and x6...

Re: Quiet PSU suggestion ~ 400 - 450W
Indeed I must have missed the charts. I looked through the reviews and could not get a conclusive answer. I got as far as to say Seasonic and Corsair (450W) is roughly the same thing, so could go for the cheapest there. But I had no idea about the Enermax. Thanks about that. Well, you're right, it'...

3 choices that I am considering at the moment are: *Enermax Pro 82+ II 425W, price 61LVL *Corsair VX series 450-550W Pirce just below 60LVL (450 and 550 cost around the same) *Seasonic S12II 430W price 49LVL Talking just about PSUs, maybe you haven't already red SPCR noise charts. However, the VX55...

Quiet PSU suggestion ~ 400 - 450W
My quiet media PC build somehow grew into a gaming PC build, and at this point my concern is PSU. I hope that I will manage to get more money and in that case I will change the case from SG06 to Lian Li PC Q08. (looked at SG07 but i much prefer the looks of Q08 and it has USB3 front ports which is ...

Does anybody have any idea on AMD's Zocate (or whatever the first AMD fusion is called) CPU performance? If it is expected to be more or less like Atom, then Atom is what I will go for now (less power and heat so will be easier to manage then AMD build). But from what I understand then Zocate should...

If the SG07 is too expensive, consider the SG05/SG06 which is almost 50% cheaper (around US$100-120). You won't need or want the 600W power supply and the extra video card space anyway. Either choice is likely to be much easier to cool than the Antec case -- but they are also both much taller and t...

Re: Need help on a quiet media player build
Was looking at Antec ISK300-65 would that be enough? I mean it's enough: but how much quiet is enough for you? With such a cramped space, you'd be likely to go in trouble for system heat, cpu quietness, drive quietness. Nothing so serious to not be addressed, but none the less, there are issues. An...

So far I have chosen: M4A88T-I Deluxe (mITX, AM3, WiFi, 880G) Athlon II X2 245e Some generic 2GB ram Will reuse old HDD It will be 24/7 box hocked up to a TV via HDMI and I need it to be as quiet as possible.
