That's good news, but if the overall cooling is worse (due to 6850 needing more power and not being vapor-x) the fan has to spin faster at load to keep temperatures low. It all depends on how faster it has to spin. I'm just trying to use logic, i'm new to quiet/silent builds and still learning a lot...

To micksh: consider that Furmark stresses your GPU a lot . You should never see that fan spinning so fast under normal circumstances. If a fan is quiet running low but sounds like an helicopter at full... well, if it never goes to full it's definitely not a problem ^^ Now i'll go slightly offtopic, ...

If the model you've chosen might be with a different number of platters the best thing i'd suggest is asking your vendor to tell you the full code.

I don't know about idle, but in the link below they say the fan never went faster than 40% during their tests. Not exactly what you asked for, but it's something
