I may have misinterpreted what he said, in which case I am sorry. However it's still not certain that the Seasonic Platinum-400 Fanless will whine.

Re: Corsair RM Series intro'd

It really surprises me how people are surprised about this. There's plenty of reports about whine in this forum. Do you get it yet? Any PSU can whine, regardless of whether it is fanless, semi-fanless, fanned. Regardless of brand, manufacturer, etc. Agree with quest_for_silence, you can get any PSU...

Crmaris actually tested the 450W version of the Cooler Master VS series @ TheLab.gr, which is more recent:

Re: Rosewill SilentNight Buzzes!

HCP-850 Platinum uses a 13.5cm, so I think for most people that presents a significant challenge when it comes to swapping the fan. Paul @ [H] doesn't measure noise for his PSU reviews, because all he would be able to record is his load testing equipment. Two reviews which do mention something about...

I remember reading that as well.

If it is the SS-500L1U, the only reason it'll be quiet is because it is fanless up to 50% load, apparently.

Hit the nail on the head. Which is why I disagree with people writing SeaSonic rather than either Seasonic (without the second capital S) or Sea Sonic (with the space).

Re: Confusing Seasonic part numbers

Agree that retailers aren't usually very good with part numbers. The original SS-***XP platinum units are all listed here: http://www.seasonicusa.com/Platinum_Series.htm So there were no units below 860W in the Platinum XP series. Therefore when retailers leave off the '2', when refering the Platinu...

According to their respective websites the Seasonic X series is fanless up to 20% load (+/- 5%). While the LZP series is fanless up to an internal temperature of 65/70C. That info is a bit misleading -- not you Garak, but Seasonic. If that is indeed what Seasonic states, the first statement is base...

I always thought that the Outervision calculator recommended the size of unit that you should buy, rather than give an estimation of the power the system will actually use. PCCentre.pl measured the fan speed of the XFX ProSeries 450W Core Edition (V1) getting no higher than 600RPM. http://pccentre.p...

90%-92%-89% are the requirements of the 80Plus Platinum certification, so I would argue that it doesn't make that much sense to call it 90Plus when one of the load levels doesn't need to be 90% or over.
