Re: DQ57TM motherboard fan control in Linux

The Intel boards usually have pretty good fan control functions in the BIOS. Do you really need OS support? Oh, I see what you mean. Fan regulation should work regardless of the OS. But I never hear them spin up from their baseline, no matter how hard the CPU is working. It would be nice to be able...

DQ57TM motherboard fan control in Linux

Anybody ever got this working? I'm running the 3.5 kernel. sensors-detect finds the w83627ehf chip. I loaded the driver, but pwmconfig still reports 0 speed for all the fans. Ditto for sensors . I've never had to run my CPU hard, but will do so shortly. The inability to ramp up the fans is disconcer...

Re: Silentest 180mm Fan possible

Asus motherboards like the Maximus Gene have built-in voltage controllers on their 3-pin fan headers. Combined with the Asus Fan Xpert you get automatic fan control. I have an Asus Maximus IV Gene Z in a TJ08B-E case at work. Automatic fan control works a treat. Just leave the front fan speed switch...

Re: Thermalright Silver Arrow Dual 14cm Fan Cooler

I've tried to put one of the fans in the pull position. (I wanted the third fan to do double-duty as an exhaust fan). It makes a whistling noise. Not entirely unpleasant, but definitely more noticeable than when pushing air into the heatsink.

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)

The case is black and is sitting under my desk, so I don't have much time to fret over it. But a bulge is definitely there. If you tap it, you get a solid thud ie. the heatsink is right up against the panel. The panel does close with a lot of swearing. I have no idea how this impacts the heatsink-c...

Regarding the top fan

I took it out, of course, and blocked the grille with a book to prevent dust from falling in and noise from coming out. I can't believe why they bothered with it in the first place. Out of interest, I ran the Tricool fan in a horizontal position, holding it in my hand. In the exhaust orientation (as...

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)

With the mega heatsink that I have, closing the side panel is a challenge. There are dents in the panel, and it bulges somewhat when in place. Sigh... I wish the Antec P183 would be able to accomodate 140mm fans as case fans. They are much quieter. I just ordered a Silver Arrow for use in my P183.....

Sigh... I wish the Antec P183 would be able to accomodate 140mm fans as case fans. They are much quieter. Well, that is not true :!: 120mm fans are quite always better than 140mm....there are so many examples about it  Well, bigger fans rotate slower, so any noise they make will have a lower ...

With the mega heatsink that I have, closing the side panel is a challenge. There are dents in the panel, and it bulges somewhat when in place. been there done that... what you have to do is to cut a couple of small oval holes in the black plastic material that's on the side panel, to accomodate the...

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)

You are welcome :D By the way, if you want you can try one of the fan you have on the heatsink to tell us an opinion, two is better than one  About the cable, yeah, surely thermalright thought at this fan as a CPU fan only....but...if it is greaT, why not to use it anywhere else? I'll ...

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)

The fan is FANTASTIC. There is no clue of ticking noises or something annoying, both in vertical or orizontal placement....the only thing you'll hear, is the sound of the air that is moving. At low RPM is dead silent...you can barely hear it at 800rpm, but at the same time it moves air! At full spe...

Re: X-400 buzz noise

I have an X-460 and it too buzzes. But I can only hear it if I stick my ear right next to it. I can't hear it normally.
