Re: Spinning heatsink
The blades on the Dyson are inside the base. Yes, of course. But we can do away with them too, I think, by spinning the ring itself in the opposite direction at a high enough RPM. What I'm imagining is something like a standard heatplate/heatpipe assembly going up to a static metal heat dissipation...

Re: Spinning heatsink
I want to see somebody combine this idea with the Dyson bladeless fan. Bladeless spinning heatsink for the win.

Re: The fastest passively cooled graphics card... Ever
I'll add something else to my previous comment : I think the fins are pointing the wrong way for a front to back (or bottom to top) airflow. A fan strapped on one of those, or a fan close by, will be fine on the side the fan is on, the other side, forget it ! No normal airflow is going to go throug...

Re: HD6850 + Accelero S1 rev2 What am I doing wrong?
Sorry I'm late to the thread.
It might be too late, but check the heatsinks on your VRMs. I've found one of the S1's heatpipes tends to knock the bottom-right VRM sink off during mounting. You need to offset that sink about a mm to the right so this doesn't happen.

Re: Passive (Accelero S1 Rev. 2) Gigabyte Radeon HD6850
Aren't the 8 black RAM (modules??) around the GPU supposed to have some sort of heatsink adhered to it? Yeah, and the little buggers don't stick very well until you've got it all heated up. If you're trying this at home, the one on the bottom right needs to be offset a couple mms to the right or on...

Re: Passive (Accelero S1 Rev. 2) Gigabyte Radeon HD6850
Just wanted to say thanks for the thread. I just finished putting two S1's on the same cards in CF in my system, it's really nice not to hear the fans anymore when I'm idling or watching TV. Considering my case is open mesh, the system is now as quiet as it's going to get. (When playing games I need...

Also, if you're on a molex connector, you can get something like this and use the 5V instead of the 12V connector.

Re: Corsair H50 Hydro Series Pump noisy for a Silent PC
My H50 pump is the noisiest part of my system. If you've got it plugged into the CPU fan header, you monitor/adjust the pump speed via the BIOS or software. (Might need to disable the CPU fan failsafe to boot if the RPMs are low....silly BIOSes assume if the CPU fan speed is below a certain threshol...

Re: Quiet/Silent HSF suggestions
Thanks for the reply, I'll peruse the list and see what I can come up with. I'd prefer to take a temperature hit (15 to 20C) over adding a massive cooler like the Archon, though. I'm trying to find the smallest/quietest solution that can still keep under 60C or thereabouts. If all else fails I'll pi...

Quiet/Silent HSF suggestions
I'm currently using an H50 with dual Noctua NF-P12s exhausting, which is great performance-wise. The fans don't make much noise as they're at the back of the case and undervolted in software to ~700rpm. The case is a Lancool K58 with a lot of quiet airflow via two NF-14 140mm exhaust fans in the roo...
