Re: Biggest fanless [case]?

Never knew such an option existed! Thanks!

Another way is to put the PSU externally, and use internals only for components - would you happen to know of a power loom kit that could enable this?

Re: Biggest fanless casing?

Thanks for responding. I am using a Seasonic PSU with my hfx classic by floating the PSU. This is not optimal and the usage of one 'bay' is lost. Am planning to do a jbod/raid with multiple SSDs (as 1-2tb are expensive now), and while 4 can fit into a single 5 inch bay, I think the additional cablin...

Biggest fanless [case]?

Hi,

I own a hfx classic which is a decent sized casing, but am looking for something larger as I would like more space internally for a bigger PSU and maybe more harddisks.
Does anyone know of any larger casing that is fanless?

Re: HFX Classic build

pilv, I am also a hfx classic user and am happy with the case too. i am also using the vertical silence but am finding it sounds abit like a fan. i guess that's the sound of the platters spinning. ;) anyway, i have a similar issue with the seasonic PSU. could you elaborate in more detail how you man...

Re: Quiet / Noisy Monitor Survey

Dell U2311 makes a 'woo' type of sound but relatively quiet. Kicks in sometimes.
Dell U2412 is quieter and inaudible at 1-2 feet away, but is a 'eee' sound. Kicks in below 97 brightness.

U2412 shows that even LED backlit is not immune to such noise. Bought it just to try.

Re: Recommend silent PC casing for HTPC/casual gaming rig

I actually completed my fanless PC several months ago but never updated here. Just posting incase someone else is interested. Quick summary: - hfx classic casing is decently built but lacks some thought out ideas. rather costly for those on a budget. - can operate totally fanless with hardly any noi...

Re: EPCN Fanless or Puget Serenity SCPR? (+processor advice)

Yup, using heimdalls as speaker cables due to the slight bias to warmth among the range, but I use frey elsewhere. Don't quite like Nordost power cords though, and am using black sands and lessloss. I'm headed overseas too so don't expect any progress. From what's happening in my thread, it appears ...

I realise you actually have similar requirements to me as I'm a audio person as well. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=61334 In my opinion there can only be two ways about it: 1. Buy 2 PCs. One for games and one fanless for music (dedicated). My friends have bought sonore PC...

Re: Recommend silent PC casing for HTPC/casual gaming rig

If it's a non-gaming HTPC, is there a reason you want to go with an i5 or even i7 over a Core i3? Is there a reason to abandon the Core 2 Duo altogether? Just wondering. And why not use the integrated graphics? Valid question. I want this to be the main PC so it would be used for more intensive app...

Re: Recommend silent PC casing for HTPC/casual gaming rig

As long as your new GPU does not exceed ~100W, you can probably go for a passive model. HD5570 is an obvious choice. Personally, I'd stick w/ the existing case, swap out for quieter fans. (Not sure how a case gets worn out just sitting there holding your components... :?: ) Thanks Mike, I value you...

Give a look at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiJzo89eayg And if you like the GD05, take also a look to its sleeky brother GD06, already seen at last COMPUTEX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAOrtBwQgRo Personally I would upgrade your current case (fan, rheobus, CPU cooler, a Noctua NH-C14 if it d...

Recommend silent PC casing for HTPC/casual gaming rig

I have been inspired by the latest bout of articles on SPCR to upgrade my PC but am stuck on the choice of casing. Currently using an Antec NSK2400 (core2duo with ATI5450) but wish to upgrade, while getting something a little quieter if possible. Requirements: - Sandybridge i5 or i7 CPU - 1 SSD driv...
