Re: Decent replacement for UltraX Keyboard?
That picture that I linked to isn't the Premium or Media version that I had. Mines look like this: http://cokupic.pl/i/c_big653567.jpg (except the Media version had buttons like that other picture I linked to). Thanks for the heads up on the UK layout being different -- I just checked it out and the...

Re: Decent replacement for UltraX Keyboard?
That seems to be the newer version (sometimes called 'premium'). It's still available in many places but it hasn't got the same feel as the original UltraX Flat. I had the older UltraX "Media" version which had different media buttons with text instead of symbols below them, but it didn't feel diff...

Re: Non-optical USB mouse?
@figment: There's a couple of things that sets high end gamer mice apart from cheaper mice. The one thing that isn't particularly useful is the ultra high resolution. They're up to 5600DPI now (if not higher), which only makes the mouse ultra sensitive (lots of cursor movement for a very small mouse...

Re: Decent replacement for UltraX Keyboard?
The UltraX is really out of production?! That has been my favorite keyboard for the past 5 years or so! I'd better get myself a spare one quickly, if I can find one. The K750 is wireless -- no way I'm getting wireless stuff, especially mice/keyboards. Edit: found one for 12,99GBP on ebay! There's st...

Re:
I don't believe any mouse emits any sound, high frequency or what. Think again. My optical mouse (Logitech MX518) does emit a high frequency whine. See: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=49599 and http://jdc.parodius.com/logitech/ If you have a Logitech mouse, there's a good ...

Re: Silent Gaming Mouse?
I just found out about the high pitched whine of my MX518 on my own and immediately thought about posting it on SPCR, but found this thread as the first google search result. I can faintly hear it when there's little environmental noise (no passing traffic outside, no talking or music playing)...

Re: fan replacement for my PSU?
So I got a Kama Flow 2 1900rpm and mounted it in my PSU. Definitely a lot quieter, without the drone of my the old fan. I'm still hearing some weird tonal noise of which I'm not sure where it's coming from, and I also obviously need to decouple the hdd because it's making my whole case resonate. Tho...

Re: Which material would transfer heat but not vibration?
Huh? Air is an insulator... If it would transfer (conduct) heat there would be no need for fans.ces wrote:water & air.Ozkar wrote:Which material can I use to transfer heat to the enclosure, without transferring vibration?

Re: fan replacement for my PSU?
Thanks a lot for the input, all! I feel a lot more educated now. I see that the S-Flex is slowly disappearing from the stocks of the webshops here. I don't want to spend too much to "upgrade" this power supply, so I'm looking at some affordable fans. The Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilent PRO-PL2 looks lik...

Re: fan replacement for my PSU?
I was hoping for some advice on what kind of fan would be most suited as a replacement. I'd like to prevent getting one that's got too much power (which would require extra work to slow it down) or one that's too slow. I was thinking about a Scythe Kama Flow 2 900rpm.

Re: Asus vs ASrock on fan headers and fan control
The Speedfan program can take over the fan control of up to six 4-pin headers and control them individually according to your temperature preferences. That's true as long as the fan headers have 4 pins and your fans have 4 wires (PWM controllable). 3 pin fan headers can only be read out, not contro...

fan replacement for my PSU?
I have a High Power 500W HP-500-A12S PSU which has gotten quite noisy. It's some ~4 years old and has been in some 3.5 years of service I guess. I want to do something to make it quieter, so I decided to open it up and look what kind of fan is inside. It's a Globe Fan S120512L: http://lh6.googleuser...

Re: Which one is the best fan of these?
By the way, I have that Slipstream PWM on a CM Hyper+ 212 and it's always running at ~270rpm, inaudible.
The PWM control certainly is more flexible than what you can achieve with a potmeter.

Re: Which one is the best fan of these?
fwiw, the fdb is a variation on the sleeve concept, so that might have been lost in translation or whatever... I think this is probably a simple case of human error (since the European page doesn't say it has FDB). Scythe's "real" FDB fans like the Kama Flex/Flow and S-Flex have a 120k to 150k hour...

Re: Source of coil whine?
I've only had the SSD in my system for a month or so and the problem was there long before that (since the very start of using the system, I think). When I listen at the back of my PSU on the left side of the plug (where I can see some big components behind the grille which may be the PFC) I can hea...

Re: Simple Modification for Prolimatech Megahalems
I don't see how spreading the fins is going to work on a stacked design. Only the topmost couple of fins could be bent upward, but the only thing that that would accomplish is better passive radiation. I think it would obstruct airflow. Zalman has had different type of heatsinks with spread fins in ...
