Re: PicoPSU for i3-2100, discrete GPU

Will suggest to get something like a silent seasonic PSU or something instead of a PicoPSU. They are rated pretty low for amps and I looked up the power consumption of a 550ti and its like 139watts. My current system hits up to 70-80Watts (iirc) according to my Kill-A-Watt. mATX mobo, 4 5900rpm HDs,...

Re: The quest for a silent HTPC PSU

If you go the Picopsu route, you might have to do some modding. If I wasn't going with 4 3.5" HDs and possibly a 5th then I'd have purchased something like the Seasonic X-400 (if I didn't want to mod, though I always want to mod :)) or the Dell RM112 from this thread http://www.silentpcreview.com/fo...

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to thank you guys for your knowledge on mating the DA-2. Cheap power brick ($20 off ebay) and it works well. Figured this would be the best thread to post. Re: Help! Which dampening material to use?!?

There doesn't really seem to be a perfect sound deadening material. The heavier stuff helps lower vibrations and redirects sound, while the lighter open cell foam absorbs higher frequencies. Since I have a pretty sturdy case (P183), I'm going with a layer of closed cell foam and a layer of open cell...

Re: can't take out p183 hinged filter to wash

I have to use a small screwdriver or point to push the tab on top a little to release the locking mechanism. Don't use too much force, but it should come out pretty easy.

Re: Source of coil whine?

I had a motherboard that had coil whine on my I5. It was only when overclocking and at max load (prime, occ, etc). I looked at your case and since you have the PSU next to the motherboard's power area it might be hard to determine what is actually making the noise. My dad had a whine coming from his...
