Re: Silent CPU cooler for Intel i3
Yes. I used the ASUS AI Suite to test, and can also hear them on boot.have you stress you pc to see if they start?
Thinking of a CPU heat sink, no CPU fan (passive...as in passed over to the case fan for cooling). And then have a thick 120mm silent PWM case fan blow over the CPU heat sink.

Re: Silent CPU cooler for Intel i3
Thanks Boost for the helpful links. The LGA775 tests provid some good information on how the Intel LGA775 stock cooler compared. It seems at the low power, the stock cooler has good noise level, and not any real advantages until you get into the higher heat/RPM ranges. For the Intel i3/1155 socket, ...

Re: Silent CPU cooler for Intel i3
Are there any reviews that compare these coolers with the Intel stock fan? My stock Intel fan runs ~1100 RPM. Not sure if this is the lowest setting for the fan, or the lowest for the temperature. Also difficult to compare it with other fans that go down to 800 RPM @ 8.2 dBA. Abula, thanks for the h...

Silent CPU cooler for Intel i3
I have a HTPC running Intel's i3 2100/1155 socket (video/music only, no games, no overclocking). The stock Intel fan is noisy and is the only fan I hear at the moment. I need to find a silent solution for the CPU noise, without high cost. The case PWM fans are completely silent, as they don't run. S...

Re: Sandy Bridge, Part 2: Intel DH67BL & Asus P8H67-M EVO
I'm still a bit confused on fan control (SpeedFan vs BIOS; PWM vs DC; etc). Fans that don't go below 40% is disappointing to me; I don't want extra noise. I want one of these boards for HTPC playback, and nothing more than that (I use my desktop for heavy encoding). I want the quietest board, as I'm...

Re: Zotac IONITX-T-U vs. ASUS AT5IONT-I
I've been looking at the i3 2100T too. But I want a fanless system for HTPC. I'm assuming the ATOM/ION2 is the way to go.

Zotac IONITX-T-U vs. ASUS AT5IONT-I
What are the differences between Zotac IONITX-T-U vs. ASUS AT5IONT-I?
Looking at HTPC CPU/motherboard options and came across mini-itx.
Thanks,
Jake

I read a few reviews regarding the Intel ATOM, it seems to not do as well as i3.

Re: Inaudible HTPC Advice
Thanks for some ideas. I've been considering the Seasonic X-400, and now perhaps the X-560 hybrid fan/fanless. I don't need the wattage, but like the idea there's a fan in case I need one, and if I don't need a fan, it's quiet. It is expensive though, and perhaps there's an alternative? I sit furthe...

Re: Fanless PSU Torture Test Roundup
I haven't built my HTPC yet. I've been quite confused. My old VCR and DVD player do not need fans. My Media Center Extender doesn't need fans either. I can't remember, but I don't think TiVo needed fans, or perhaps it's just silent. But when I read about building an HTPC, noise and heat becomes a to...

Re: Fanless PSU Torture Test Roundup
Good review, but still left me at a loss. I'm not sure if I can use the SeaSonic X-400 in my i3 HTPC without any fans?
