connecting 3pin fans to 4pin headers (Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H)

hi, I have some older parts that i never used from a cancelled build years ago (2x nexus 120mm case fans and a scythe ninja plus revB) im building a haswell ( 4770k / Z87X-UD3H / fractal R3 ) machine, which will be dual boot win7 / hackintosh. ive attached the ninja with katers solution using the 77...

Re: Ninja SNCJ-1000 for socket 1155 with Noctua backplate -

thats great news. thanx for the advice.

ill probably go with the plateless method that Benius linked to, however if I choose to go with the plate (assuming they ship to canada) that Lodestar suggested, will the 775 mount that comes with the ninja fit this plate?

Re: Ninja SNCJ-1000 for socket 1155 with Noctua backplate -

hi, i realize this thread is old yet keep getting revived every few months ;) i was wondering what is the latest and most current consensus regarding mounting the ninja plus revB to a haswell (socket 1150) build? im planning to build a hackintosh based on a 4770k and a Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H and was won...

Re: RAID1 and dual boot / hackintosh?

The whole plan seems poorly thought out. If I wanted to use a separate OS drive, I'd probably put the data drives in RAID1 in some kind of NAS. Problem goes away. Alternatively, use one of these cheap external drives externally and backup to it. It's safer than RAID (for most purposes) and eSATA is...

Re: RAID1 and dual boot / hackintosh?

If you are going to do any serious work then I would skip the hackintosh or just have it around for fun. There are lots of good DAW and video editing programs for Windows. If you really want to go Windows/hackintosh dual boot then I would highly suggest you skip the RAID. Use one single drive inter...

RAID1 and dual boot / hackintosh?

hi, im planning to buy a couple of 4tb drives (most likely buy external seagate units and pull them out of the enclosures since for whatever reason they are cheaper than internal ones) and I want to set them up in RAID 1 for backup of data (photos/video footage etc) via onboard mobo controllers from...

Re: video editing budget build 4Q 2012

I would skip RAID 0 and instead place source video files on one disk and output files on the other, perhaps using the SSD for project and proxy files. Or, since you already have the HDDs, you could test both setups before deciding... Any particular reason not to use the integrated GPU? that is not ...

Re: video editing budget build 4Q 2012

You con use RAID 0/1/5 from any SATA port provided by the Z77 chipset, on the ASUS P8Z77-V LK that's all six. You can create multiple array from drives on these ports. Using the SSD to store render content makes sense, it's much faster than any hard drive, even in RAID0. RAID1 for storage isn't bad...

Re: video editing budget build 4Q 2012

There's no use in buying two HDDs for a Raid0 if a single SSD can be used. Speed of HDD(Raid0) <<<< Speed of single SSD (nearly any) . perhaps i did not clarify that i want to use both? its not a question of one or the other. i want to store original footage in project folder on ssd. then encode/re...

video editing budget build 4Q 2012

i would appreciate some advice on the following budget build. The components that I already have are: Fractal design R3, antec 550 psu, 128g Crucial M4 ssd, 2 hitachi 1tb 7200rpm drives, and from a really old-cancelled build: 2 Nexus 120mm fans and Ninja 2 revB heatsink. I will use the sdd for the s...

Re: budget NLE (video editing) build

600w psu seems like massive overkill. i know. this is for future upgrades as well as the idea that as long as im in the low requirements of the PS, it will hardly ever spin up as for the video card, iirc Vegas uses cuda, not opengl, so you'll be wanting a nvidia graphics card if youre looking into ...

will ninja rev b fit am3 socket?

i have a old ninja rev b that i never used and was wondering if i can fit it onto a am3 socket?

i read somewhere that am2 (which is what the ninja is compatible with) and am3 sockets have same mounting but i wanted to confirm
