Re: Is the Thermalright HR-02 compatible with the MSI 770-C4

For free!?!? That's awesome!!!! Might start looking into it now then. I'd have to check before buying though but it's nice to know there's likely to be a passive cooler available as soon as i swap to LGA2011.

Re: Is the Thermalright HR-02 compatible with the MSI 770-C4

Thanks for the info. May look into that cooler when i upgrade to LGA2011. I'm starting to save for a Sandy Bridge-E so there's no point in buying a new cooler for my current system. The quad channel memory looks too tasty. I eventually got a response from Thermalright so i'll post my findings in cas...

Re: Do cases with dampening panels make that much difference

I like the look of hardware. I used to collect circuit boards as a kid. Just thought they looked cool. I'm not a big fan of LEDs but i love my cathode lights. Have some installed behind the mesh on the front and it glows blue.

Re: Do cases with dampening panels make that much difference

I was gonna buy a pre-installed window case. I like the acrylic idea. Think i'll do that. I could get clear blue acrylic as well and that'd make it look even better.

Re: Is Passive CPU Cooling Best for Silent Computing?

I have a couple of Cluster, which is nearly identical (HALO, Batwing, Twister bearing, 8dBA), just a tad slower (so quieter). Even if they are more than decent, IME they are not preferable to all the Scythe PWMs (or - probably - to some expensive beQuiet! or Noise Blocker), at least with reference ...

Re: Is Passive CPU Cooling Best for Silent Computing?

The Enermax T.B. Silence PWM. It looks pretty cool as well. http://www.enermax.co.uk/products/fans/tbsilence-pwm.html Enermax fans are always neat. I can't help but be attracted to them. But in terms of performance they have a mixed reputation. You might want to look at the plain jane Scythe PWMs. ...

Re: Is Passive CPU Cooling Best for Silent Computing?

That's the plan anyway. Just checking compatibility for the cooler i want and then i'm gonna combine it with an Enermax PWM fan with a manufacturer rating of as little as 8dBA. As the heatsink will be greatly reducing the heat of the CPU alone, the fan will only run at a low power and everything wi...

Do cases with dampening panels make that much difference?

Would a case with dampening panels be much quieter than a case with a window and dampening panels fitted on the metal parts? I want a quiet system but i also like being able to see my hardware. It just looks so much cooler.

Re: Is Passive CPU Cooling Best for Silent Computing?

That's a fair point that other components on the motherboard will run at higher temperatures. Most reviews only look at the temperatures of the CPU when reviewing a cooler. Shame there isn't any data available for other temperatures. However passive coolers are designed to run effectively without a ...

Is the Thermalright HR-02 compatible with the MSI 770-C45?

I've looked at the compatibility PDF but there isn't a record for it. Anyone know whether it'd work? I really hope so cos this cooler looks amazing. Passive cooling at low temperatures. Sounds awesome!!!
