Re: Silent i4790k build, asus z-97a, low profile

Question: Right now while using the same DAC on my Laptop ( Dell Lattitude E7450, i7-5600U @ 2.6GHz, 8GB Ram) by USB, I encounter dropouts of sound every several minutes. It is just the absence of sound for a second and then it comes back. The DAC driver has several USB and buffer settings, buffer ...

Re: Do you think I will be able to cool this gaming build pa

The other thing is that whilst all the forums says that passive cooling is not possible, most of the posts are at least 3 years old, so I thought technology may have come along enough for it to be possible in 2015. No one said it is not possible, but it has some caveats and it will cost you a lot m...

Re: Passive Cooling vs Silent Cooling for my purposes

If you just want to listen to music, stick with what people say about DACs.

If you want to make music, have a look at http://xi-machines.com/en/systems-audio.php

Those are sold to high level music studios and recording companies (mainly to work with Steinberg-Software and the likes).

hmkay, i only thought of a cube case. Didn't realize you had a full size mobo.

The only mATX i am aware of which has features close to your current is the MSI A78M-E45 V2.

Yeah, it's all standard connectors and pretty much standard layouts. I knew servers had backplanes but I had no idea they had integrated cabling - that sounds pretty much perfect. It's a kind of integrated cabling as in the PCs you by from Lenovo, HP an Dell, they use preconfigured cables th...

But i find it kind of odd, people spending a bumload of $ on silent fans, case and oc cpu, but then skip the few dollars to buy a new 2.5 HDD or even a 3.5 Green.

Moreover as the old HDD has a mere 1Tb of capacity.

Re: Using new old hardware - More on Moore from a Moron

The TS-140 is an entry level server box, so no standards, just Lenovo. If you can manage to connect the PSU, you should be fine, but don't be surprised to run into problems, because all servers from Dell, HP, Fujitsu and Lenovo tend to have proprietary stuff/connectors/fans. So good luck and please ...

AFAIK there's the Chieftec Flyer, but it also comes with a PSU supplied.

If you would use SFX, there are some nice cases from Rosewill/Cooltek/Jonsbo

And stock cooler on the CPU could be a bad idea, so be prepared to swap that for a decent one

Fan doesn't go over 1000 RPM? You shouldn't compare "super silent" claims from most review sites, as they have no real knowledge of how silent SPCR-silent is.

A 120mm fan is fairly silent up to 800 RPM, depending on make and build. YMMV

Coil whine is a symptom of some Seasonic PSU. So, you should try and listen to the replacement unit they send and if it is not silent enough, i would negotiate for a refund. If you want to go with a passiv PSU, look for the Kingwin aka Superflower models. I have assembled a few Systems with those an...

Which "reference" cards are you referring to?

If that means stock blower style cooler, low noise will be hard to reach, regardless of which case you choose.

Re: Quiet internal fans for laptops

Afaik there are none. Thermal envelope on those cooling systems is small enough, so i'd guess quiter = slower fans would have serious impact on a laptop's lifetime and risk constant overheating or throttling.

The current slim design laptops even leave less thermal headroom for silent cooling layout.

Don't expect the 200mm fan of the V1 to be a lot quieter.

You are trying to pack a good amount of heat in a tiny case. Hence you should either reduce the heat or pick a larger (better ventilated) case.

You could take a look at the fractal Node 304 review in here.
