Well - it may actually boil down to however much power the chipset uses.
(Assuming no ECC ram, power sucking 15k RPM SAS drives, Redundant PSU ect...)

Re: TDP of new FX/Bulldozer CPU's
The Bulldozer Architecture has some form of analog advanced power gating ~ The TDP of 125W then could probably never be reached in a 'real' world benchmark. In a completely custom synthetic benchmark - maybe, its just an 'maximum' engineering number - and probably conservative at that. Due to the ma...

Re: Most reliable 2TB drive...
From experience with a moderate number of drives: WD Green EACS - OK, slow, head-park "feature" was annoying (until turned off) EADS - OK, some flakey SATA driver behavior EARS - 'Faster', Good so far (it seems to be the most reliable of the series). I've seen/heard Samsung/Seagates drop dead first ...

Re: P183 problem - vent door lock broken
Hmm - I've got an earlier model P-Series, with the same problem.
I just manually fiddled the cover door back onto the plastic clip - IIRC Antec will send out replacement parts if your case is still in warranty... (Or they used to years ago)
Otherwise the fan door only serves to block airflow

Re: Is watercooling quieter than fan cooled?
Using passive external radiators - e.g. the Zalman Reservator (sp?), Only the pump (which can be padded) will make any 'noise' (vibration/harmonics are a different issue). Also Liquid cooling systems always idle LOWER than Air (usually -5 or more from a 'normal' high-end Aircooler at the same ambien...

Re: What about alternative coolant fluids?
There are always disadvantages for coolant fluids other than modified water. Fluorocarbon always come to mind (Liquid cooled super computers) - Costly stuff. Or a Liquid Metal... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galinstan However it corrodes various other metals (like aluminum...) makes it very problema...

Materials for Silent Rackmount Enclosure
What are the ideal materials to build a 'Stealth' enclosure for a rack ?
Acoustic foam ?
Also what recommendations for vibration damping (for the feet / base and top mounting) ?
Rubber or silicon washers ?
Has anyone here ever done anything like this?
