Re: GTX 960 review compilation thread
Personally i think a Backplate is a must for heavy cards, Asus seems to be releasing all of them with backplates, and some like MSI are semi following releasing two lines of the same models, i expect next high end gen to have backplates, and mid end probably most of them. The card itself warping is...

Re: GTX 960 review compilation thread
I just bought the EVGA ACX 960 and I don't recommend it for quiet builds. In hindsight I probably would have come to that conclusion if I hadn't been lazy about reading all the reviews, and would have purchased another brand. At first I was dismayed to find the fans constantly spinning up just from...

Need 140mm fan recommendation with specific specs
I have a Super Flower Leadex PSU which is an excellent unit let down by it's horrible cheap fan. My intention was always to replace the whole PSU, but it's proven impossible to find one that fits all my needs (high quality fan, semi-passive fan control that actually works properly, no coil whine and...

Noctua NF-A14 FLX Upside Down?
Is anyone running the NF-A14 upside dow (blowing upwards)? Is does it make any extra noise? I want to make 180mm to 140mm adapters and use three of them in an FT02, but I'm concerned about the orientation as I've noticed that some fans get noisy and/or make rasping sounds when spinning up or down wh...

Re: 2x Nexus D12SL-12 for a Performance M-ATX build GTX 780
I'm not going to install an exhaust fan because now there's no doubt that it kill the positive air pressure and turn the whole thing into a dust fest. If I was happy to sacrifice positive pressure, then I wouldn't even be bothering with Silverstone - I'd go straight to Lian Li for a much higher stan...

Re: 2x Nexus D12SL-12 for a Performance M-ATX build GTX 780
Not very promising so far. I haven't got the whole system yet (waiting for C2 z87 boards), but I've been testing D12SL-12's in a PS07. I thought this would be the perfect case (a TJ08-E without being stuck with that damned fan), but it's intake system is ridiculously restrictive as it turns out. Eve...

Re: Can you use voltage control on PWM fans?
Some say that PWM fans are design to operate at 12V always and they regulate internally, some say lower voltage might be risky for its design... but Noctua PWM fans even come with a LNA (a resistor) that lowers the voltage more and changes their operation. I try when planning my setup to run 3pin o...

2x Nexus D12SL-12 for a Performance M-ATX build GTX 780 etc?
I'm making a performance M-ATX build in a Silverstone PS07. The PS07 is effectively a TJ08-E with two 120mm fans instead of the one large one. http://i.imgur.com/ECBtGgc.jpg As there are to be no mechanical HDDs, the only significant thermal considerations are a single GTX 780 (reference EE cooler) ...

Streacom FC5 Evo CPU Cooling Performance
What's the long term cooling capacity of this case with a CPU under load. Judging by the following thread, a 65W TDP CPU is too much. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=66350p=576071 I wouldn't really be happy with using any CPU that couldn't complete 24 hours of Prime95 at accepta...

GTX 285 Idle Temperature and Fan Speed
What's the point of low idle temperatures anyway? Isn't it best for this kind of hardware to keep the temperature range as narrow as possible? Any reason not to reduce idle fan speed so that the card is running 65°C(idle)-85°C(load) instead of 50°C(idle)-85°C(load)? The only downside I can see is mo...

Re: Megahalems + i7-3770 Temperatures
What's the core idle temps when your ambient is 20C? 22-33°C (it fluctuates rapidly, apparently normal for this proc) at 19.5°C ambient The fan runs at ~250rpm during idle. Try this cheap trick to get a few more degrees of cooling. Please let us know if it helps: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forum...

Just received a TJ08-E - first thing I did was power up the fan, which sounds like this: http://youtu.be/u2FpiZmoBak (that's low speed->high speed->low speed) I've had the case before, but it was minus the fan. Re: GT 610 vs HD 6450
That's driver related imho. There's still a bug (acknowledged bug in driver, but no fix until today) out there regarding older intel onboard vga, if making the "wrong" of two attached monitors the prime one, the second monitor is going black and system reverts to having just one monitor. I believe ...

GT 610 vs HD 6450
I want a low cost, passively cooled card for an office machine. It needs to be able to run Aero smoothly at 2560 x 1440, and I'm assuming the GT 610 and HD 6450 are capable of that, right? Anyway, I'd like your opinions on which card to get. Any known bugs in either? I'm leaning towards the GT 610 b...

I'd sooner substitute the card than the CPU cooler. I can't find any comparable alternative passive cards available over here, and if I'm going to have active cooloing, I might as well go for the 7770. Who has compared the two models? I'm actually looking at a TJ08-E, but it has one of the AP181 fans in it. Some folks are saying this fan is loud. I have an FT02 with the old style fans in it, so if someone could tell me if the AP181 is louder or quieter than the older model 180, I'll know roughly w...

He doesn't have the outtake fan above the CPU cooler either. To be fair, with the FT02's positive air pressure, there is probably just as much air moving through that grille as when the outtake fan was installed. But yeah, that article doesn't seem particularly relevant. I have a 2600k in a general...

FT02 owners, what do you think of the FT02 HDD mounts? Is it worth rigging up a suspension system in the optical bays, of is the stock setup quiet enough?
