Re: Fractal Design Define S Tower Case

Thanks for a nice and thorough review! I´m totally with rhuebner here: With all those fan mounts, and no HDD bays, there must be a way to get a really optimized airflow through this case. rhuebners idea is good. And then some stripes of anti-vibration asphalt mats here and there, and it could be clo...

Re: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 & Cryorig H5 Universal Coolers

Great review once again, thnx! I was wondering: Have you ever examined, what those - seemingly unnecessary - top covers/shrouds on the heatsinks do for cooling performance? I´m almost sure they will obstruct airflow and decrease performance, but I´ve never seen anyone actually test it. Perhaps they ...

Thanks for the review. Very nice, as is the case. And it seems there is lots of possibilities for additional sound dampening as well, looks really intersting.

Re: Our Lapped CPU Heatsink Test Platform

A simpler way to achieve the same -- or even better -- cooling performance would be to delid the CPU and use a flat or lapped base heatsink. You'd need to make sure the heatsink mounting is done in an even, consistent way to avoid crushing edges or corners of the exposed die, but that die surface i...

Re: Our Lapped CPU Heatsink Test Platform

Are you thinking of the way telescope makers grind their mirrors? If it works for them, why not cpu's/heatsinks? Interesting idea. Wonder if it's practical? Yeah, kind of like that. If two surfaces has to fit each other real tight, that´s the way to go. Regarding practicality, it probably isn´t... ...

Re: Our Lapped CPU Heatsink Test Platform

Wonderful article, very nice and rewarding read. Real candy for all the DIY´ers amongst the readers, which probably are quite a few here, I for one. Just a few thoughts: 1. Never buy anything else but a convex heatsink, if you want to play it safe. If there is a certain cooler you have fallen in lov...

Re: AMD Radeon HD 6870 Graphics Card

Well, I can only say, that this is what I read out all the time. In win 7, win XP and Kubuntu. 32 bit and 64 bit. Except when I experiment with fans and their placement, then the temps of couse changes. And during the summer they rise 3-4 degrees. But ok, thanks for your time and the answers, I will...

Re: AMD Radeon HD 6870 Graphics Card

Until I checked out the review of my own card HD 4770, and realised, that your system is extremely undercooled and therfore also very loud, compared to my world. Uh? Which system? The SPCR test bed? Yeps. Which is not the North Pole, by the way, ambient 20 degrees:-) IMO you should note that accord...

Re: AMD Radeon HD 6870 Graphics Card

Hi there. I´ve read your articles with great interest for a couple years. There is one thing that puzzles me though: When I read your articles, I think the temperatures in your system is overall very, very high. I cannot at all recognize these temps in my own system. Which is Athlon II x2 250 with a...
