Re: Asus GTX970 STRIX

However, I have experienced some coil whine occasionally, which is my biggest annoyance. A high-pitched sound that I never heard before. This only occurs in certain situation, however. The most striking sound was during the loading screen of the Nvidia FaceWorks demo: http://www.nvidia.com/coolstuf...

Re: A new quiet kid in town (BeQuiet E10 PSUs hit the shelf)

And for the 50% load we are close to 92%. I think the top PSU makers will eventually pass the 95% eff at 50% but the cost would be very high . Anyway for the past 3 years the power draw for an office PC has gone down from 80, 70 W to 25W idle and 150 W load to 65W . And for the gamer PC ( average - ...

Re: A new quiet kid in town (BeQuiet E10 PSUs hit the shelf)

Here are some efficiency charts ( 220V/50 Hz ) for E9 tomshardware and computerbase.de I saw some minor efficiency drops for the new E10 compared to E9 at very small load ( 25 W ) . Maybe they tried to compensate at 20 % , 50% , 100 % with a higher efficiency . Anyway I am very pleased by the qualit...

Re: A new quiet kid in town (BeQuiet E10 PSUs hit the shelf)

After reading the german site ComputerBase.de and Tomshardware.com on their review of BeQuiet! E9 series , I decided on buying one ( July 2014 ) : BeQuiet! E9 450W . Fearing the dreadful noise coming from several direction ( coil noise , buzzing , loud fan bearings , etc ) , I was skeptical at what ...

Hera are some pics of the Intel B75 Mobo with Gigabyte GTX 660 2GB DDR5 . The video card has the original plastic shard and 2 fans removed, and is now fitted with 2 x 80 fans , one Nexus , one Arctic Cooling Notice the Nexus 80 x80 x 25 fan attached to the outside of the PSU, and also the standard s...

Re: Power consumption for the DH77KC

To necbot : Your figures are nothing to be ashamed for . For a standard ATX board the Intel DH77KC is a fabulous record !! Now the answer : For the Asus Z77 & Asrock H77 , Z77 in BIOS from the first column ( Asus = AI Tweaker ). Scroll down to the CPU Power Management , enter , then scroll to Enhanc...

Re: Power consumption for the DH77KC

Forgot to answer more clearly : Except for the standard fan ( removed ) the PSU is DEAD silent when disabling the C6 and SpeedStep, I did some further testing by completely stopping the NEXUS fan , and I can confirm that there is no kind of sound . When the speedstates are enabled , as everyone has ...

Re: Power consumption for the DH77KC

To necbot : My alias should have been "nonoise32 " instead of "audigy32" , because I can not tolerate the sound made by PC components or clicking/rattling fans . FSP 300 GHS is a SFX PSU fitted with a 80 x 80 x 10 mm fan , thermo controlled . For the majority of people its sound would be fine to nea...

Re: Power consumption for the DH77KC

About the Kill-A-Watt device , I have two of these kind , one is Voltcraft Energy Monitor 3000 , not so happy about this one - it adds it's own power consumption ( usually 1W ) to the reading , and one other no name , but big LCD . Now about your fears about the reading accuracy , I was too at the b...

Re: Power consumption for the DH77KC

So be it . But if I estimate an average efficiency of 70% for this 15 W range , that would mean that for every 10W AC ( 220 V - Europe ) it the PSU eats 3W as heat , so for 11.5W at least 4W is waste . So if your guess is right about my overoptimistic efficiency and we have around 70% that would mea...

Re: FSP Aurum Gold 400 experiences?

Hi, Though been reading articles from this site for many years, it's my first post in forum. Hope it will be usefull. I recently bought FSP Aurum Gold 400 , it's half the price of Sesonic x400. Pro's: 1 Super efficient at low loads, as comparison my former PSU 300W 80Plus draw 35.6W AC ( 220 V 50Hz)...
