Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide

Unfortunately the MK-26, Morpheus, and similar wouldn't fit on any motherboard currently available (at least not in SLI). All of these coolers require three slots without fans and a fourth with fans. The only reason to go SLI with cards of this caliber is if you're a) at 4k, b) at 3440x1440, c) a v...

Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide

Would have done this build very differently - open air test bench case like a Lian Li T60 and use Raijintek Morpheus' on each GPU with 2 quiet fans blow down the heatsinks. Fans could run at 600rpm which would be well below 20dB.

Re: the idea of mITX and a huge GPU

I haven't read the whole thread, but the 4770K is overkill for gaming with that graphics card, and overclocking won't make any difference. Use that money for a faster GPU instead if you want to spend money. The 3 year old 2600K is still a very fast CPU compared to the 4770K. In this review you can ...

Do you think you can do a test bench setup? You won't hear it unless you have your ear up to the fan.

Currently using NF-S12A on my MK-26. Very happy with the noise and performance. But I'm using a Gigabyte GTX 670 that lets it drop to 400rpm.

Re: Improving an already pretty quiet build

I wouldn't bother with the stock cooler on "custom" cards. You can try strapping those NF-S12A's to see how temps go, but MK-26 is the preferred way to go. It should fit since there is good clearance. I would suggest open case (test bench), which is nice and compact while having completely unrestric...

Re: PhysX questions

Does anyone know if it's possible to run a PhysX card on the top PCI-e x16 lane and a primary GPU on a lower x8 (PCI-e 3.0)? I'd like to have mine setup this way because of cooling and noise (passive physx and 4-slot main gpu). It seems bandwidth would not be an issue, but would there be issues with...

That looks really nice and I am glad that you found something for your needs. But I am afraid I can´t or am allowed by my girlfriend to have something like that! :) Whatever you end up doing, I HIGHLY recommend getting an Prolimatech MK-26. So your case requirement will be a small case that can fit...

Re: Silent, small and [powerful] is it possible?

Small, silent, and powerful are all possible with the right cooling! 6 months ago, I was after the same goal and search around case after cases that was small but still fit my GPU+cooler. My solution was open test bench! http://cdn.overclock.net/e/ed/900x900px-LL-edcfd89f_936387.jpeg http://cdn.over...

Re: Close to silent pc!

If you're in the US, I'd look at the Kingwin STR-500/Rosewill SilentNight. No coil whine and the quality is just as good as the Seasonic models. For your uses, especially if you won't be using a GPU (and even if you do), take a look into ITX builds. You don't exactly need a "quiet" case to achieve "...

Re: High-performance triple-purpose quiet system

Is there a non-fanless Seasonic PSU like the X-650 but with lower wattage? 650W is way overkill for this system :) Also, is it safe to assume that it supports Haswell CPU's (C6/C7 states etc.)? Super Flower Golden Silent/Kingwin STR-500/Rosewill SilentNight. All 3 are the same PSU under different b...

I had a similar issue with my Rosewill SilentNight. I turned off this "power loading" feature in my BIOS (Z87 Gigabyte) under the power management system. After about a week, the buzz in my PSU finally went away. I had tried about everything before this and also RMAed and still had the same problem....

Re: Rosewill SilentNight Buzzes!

Browsing around a bit more, it looks like Antec will be releasing a 650W and 750W version of the HCP Platinum. It's scheduled for Q3 2013 but it's nowhere to be found!

Got any additional info on these? I hope you guys get your hands on a unit for review.

Re: Rosewill SilentNight Buzzes!

An update on my PSU: My PSU is no longer limited to random buzzing. It will occasionally squeal/whine. The noise is just piercing. I'm thinking about just ditching this unit all together with something better. I was looking at the Antec HCP-850W Plat which had the best measurement to date. The only ...

I think maybe the PSU just needs a warm up period. Almost buzzes every time I turn on my PC for the first time that day, then miraculously goes away after 2-3 hours.

Here's what Seasonic recommends when you encounter electronic noise with their supplies: In the BIOS, the function of Audio Always On must be DISABLED as this does not conform to ErP standards. As well, in the BIOS, all energy savings modes such as ErP/EuP, StandBy Energy Savings, S4/S5, must all b...

I'm almost completely sure the noise is coming from the PSU. My mobo and GPU are on the top level of my testbench and the PSU is on the bottom. When I'm at the same level as the PSU, I can hear the buzzing, but once I move above the PSU to my mobo and GPU the noise almost disappears. During my RMA, ...

Case was only open for taking pictures :) Maybe I should redo the results for temps since it was a quick 5 minute Heaven bench run to gather results. Quietly cool your GPU using PCI!

I've always wondered if there were better ways to cool your GPUs. Even with the custom cooler on my Gigabyte Windforce GTX 670, it idles around 55C when I have the fans set to the minimum speed. As some of you may already know, I'm VERY picky about noise, but what can I do to keep my GPU cooler and ...

I just purchased a 2TB Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 and although it's pretty quiet for a 3.5" drive, I want it to be silent.
