Offering live video service to help build silent pcs

I've been building silent pc's and tech has dvanced so far you do not have to compromise on speed anymore to get pc's a baby can sleep next to. I will reveal one of my secrets spray on sound deadening foam to reach the placed the manufacturers miss. I also keep a list of the best products and can bu...

Re: Fractal Define R5 Standard Fractal GP-14 140mm case fans

It seems fractal has an upgraded line with a better FDB bearing. How are these compared to the GP-14. All Fractal really says about them is the bearing is higher quality and has a much larger lifetime.

mid 2018/mid 2019 6 core coffee lake/ice lake build

It will be a 6 core coffee lake 2018 build and I’d like to maximum OC the CPU but only to its sweet spot not where 100 more MHz still works but spikes the heat 10C the step below that hopefully a solid 5.2 GHz on 2nd gen 10nm process. With I’d say to be on the safe side 250 watt tdp GPU to include p...

My latest build

Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Blackout edition Motherboard: TBD (either whatever 6 core 300 series coffee lake uses or AM4+ what Zen + uses) It will be a high end board though with hopefully 2 m2 slots running at 4x each and a GPU running at 8x which leaves 4x + the chip set for the rest of the inp...

PC cases with 10gbps usb type c ports 2x + 1x TB3 in front?

My next build requires this. Don't want to have to use 5.25" sleds. Saving the entirety of the front of the case to slowly turn 3x 140mm fans just below audible level to keep the case cool and quiet. The build will also have no 3.5" drives. Just 1x 1TB 960 pro (maybe a 2TB 960 pro depending on cost)...

I dont think its wise to wait for ZEN, my guess its just going to be another hyped AMD CPU... that wont deliver. In PCs if you play the waiting game.... there is always something around the corner, i simply suggest, buy what you need, when you need it. About the case, i dont think i ever seen a cas...

Re: Fractal Define R5 Standard Fractal GP-14 140mm case fans

Regarding the tonality of the a15, I'm fairly certain I'll be able to run the fans at a pretty low rpm and still have adequate cooling as the system will have no ocing and the cpu will be stock but undervolted as much as possible (get the 91 watt tdp down to about 83 watt tdp) and the gpu will be th...

Fractal Define R5 Standard Fractal GP-14 140mm case fans??

SO the case comes with 2x of these fractal dynamic gp-14 140mm fans. I'm getting a third fan to make sure the case has positive pressure so I'll have 2x 140mm intake fans in the front and 1x 140mm exhaust in the top rear. Are fractals gp-14 fans good enough quality as far as noise and air production...

Re: Do 144hz monitors make any noise?

The higher Hz will certainly make a difference in responsiveness, if the game has animations and assets to match (and your rig can drive it fast enough; you don't need superhuman reflexes and senses to spy the difference). A friend was really pleased with his new 120 Hz monitor, as he had not been ...

Re: GTX 1080 Reviewed today om Tom's

well guys if you are only gaming at 1080p you can always purposefully undervolt and underclock the 1080 to a pretty low clock speed and rly get the heat and noise under control. I image 1080 @ 60fps would allow you to heavily underclock the 1080. Then you always got all that extra power in reserve f...

AMD will soon be announcing their first Polaris graphics cards followed by a launch in mid-2016. We know little about Polaris GPUs but information from Videocardz suggests that AMD’s upcoming product series will be part of the Radeon R9 480 and Radeon R9 470 series family. http://wccftech.com/amd-ra...

Re: Is my Power supply theory correct?

Reading comprehension people. It was a hypothetical question. If you had a hybrid semi fanless 1500 watt PSU and kept the load at 225-250 watts would it's fan stay off permanently. Never once did I say I wanted to buy one. It was a question out of curiosity that is it. Geez

Vicotnik wrote:Hypothetical how? Would it work? Sure. But why?
Because those 400-500 watt full fanless PSU's suck. They run incredible hot like 85C constantly and radiate a lot of heat into the case.

What's the point of a 1.5kW PSU for a sub 300W system? Future proofing? ;) If you want guaranteed fanless operation, why not a passive PSU with a capacity closer to the actual power consumption? It should be both cheaper and more power efficient, it's just a hypothetical question thats all and no t...

Re: Is my Power supply theory correct?

What don't you understand? It's for a silent build. If you want the PSU to NEVER have to turn it's fans on. I don;t want to retype it all. Since PSU's keep their fans off if the load is below 25% if you buy a big enough PSU so even your MAX load is less than 25% then will the PSU fans NEVER have to ...

I've read up a lot on the new amd cards. The polaris 10 the bigger polaris is going to be the radeon 480x/480. It is supposed to have performance very similar to the 390x/390. The msrp is supposed to be 300 dollars. So for 300 dollars we are getting performance equal to the 390x. The power usage wi...

I use the coollaboratory liquid metal TIM. Really awesome performing tim basically the best tim you can get. I'd imagine less power draw than a 980/980 Ti so should be easier to cool. I would asume also.... but you never know, its a new architecture.... not always ends up more efficient, we will know in june. Well we know now. The 980Ti is 250 watt TDP and the 1080 is 180 watt TDP for a massive 70 watts T...

Is my Power supply theory correct?

OK so we all know how new power supplies all have a hybrid fanless feature where about 25% and below load the fan does not spin. Now say you have a decently power efficient system that at peak load it draws about 280 watts but on average it's lower than that say 225 watts. Obviously current suggesti...

Fractal Design R5/S best case for 1 mid range GPU??

I just want to verify but it seems over here at SPCR the consensus is if you are building a PC with 1 GPU especially if it is just 1 mid range GPU the fractal design r5/s is the best way to go. For example if you were going to build a new desktop with 90 watt tdp kaby lake and a 160 watt tdp GTX 107...

Off topic, but does anyone know how much the 490x will cost? The 290x and 390x both costs about £350, so same can be expected of the 490X? If AMD is not lying and it does do alot better fps/watt then I would not even need a new case but some new fans will be fine. No one knows yet, but my guess is ...
