Re: Best solution for 1TB of data: WD Green or 2,5"?
gabedamien: From what I see from the specs on the WD page the EZRX is listend as just a bit louder than the EARX, which is also a little bit slower. As soon as I have time I'll try to look more for benchs, in the meantime if anyone knows the real differences... Please look again: http://f.cl.ly/ite...

Long-term follow-up: all is well. Never notice any noise from this AX750. Don't know if my AX650 was just a bit too far out of spec or if this represents a difference between the models, but I am happy.

Re: Best solution for 1TB of data: WD Green or 2,5"?
EZRX. It's officially rated lower noise than every other WD 3.5" drive of any type. Actually it is the quietest single model of 3.5" HDD from anyone I could find a year ago when I looked into it; would love to hear anyone who knows a quieter 3.5" HDD b/c I still don't know any better. 2.5 vs 3.5 - 2...

Re: Fan Roundup #7: Antec, be quiet!, Corsair, GELID, Noiseb
The be quiet! B12 fans are interesting... So, I applaud the be quiet! engineers for trying a new concept... The B12 eLoops are Noiseblocker, not "bequiet!" (God I hate the level of typographic arrogance in that brand name). The bequiet! fans were the Silent Wings. I would have also liked to see the...

Re: AX650 has a (slight, but annoying) buzz. RMA? Alternativ
Did your unit begin with coil whine? Because neither my 650 nor this 750 have any, at least not that I've heard. What I have sounds more like "zzzzzzzzz" albeit very softly. I too am hoping that this represents the worst of it and it won't get worse over time. As it is the 750 is totally fine to me,...

Re: AX650 has a (slight, but annoying) buzz. RMA? Alternativ
First day with the AX750. Been keeping an... ear... on it while I do normal computing, benchmarking, games, etc. This unit also buzzes. But so far it's less often and significantly quieter than the AX650, to the point that I cannot hear it at normal distance (~5 ft from PSU) with fans at minimum. To...

I run OS X, but I have a secondary SSD for gaming only (Windows). I took a look at Win 8, and Win 7.

Re: AX650 has a (slight, but annoying) buzz. RMA? Alternativ
It's not so much the wattage, as the premium components. I like the PSU to be rock solid. Also, as I was going for as quiet as I could without actually going fanless, the Seasonic X-650/660 and Corsair AX650 looked good (both are the lowest wattage in their model range and have pseudo-fanless operat...

AX650 has a (slight, but annoying) buzz. RMA? Alternative?
So now that I finally have my setup working as quietly as possible with proper fan control, I have discovered a noise previously masked by the too-high fan RPMs / B12 drone issue. Namely, my Corsair AX650 has a buzzing noise. This is a problem because although it is soft, it is distinctive, irritati...

Re: Noiseblocker NB-eLoop 120mm fans
The review on OC.net isn't ideal because these fans are strictly single purpose push fans. As soon as there is something disturbing airflow less than 1cm in front of the fan, like a fan grate, a dust filter or a heatsink they can drone. If used in a push configuration I found you can run them ~300R...

Re: Noiseblocker NB-eLoop 120mm fans
Yes, I had heard that some Asus 4 pin CHA_FAN headers do not allow the same flexibility as the CPU fan settings. So what I was assuming was that the CPU_FAN header used with the Silent BIOS profile would allow PWM control down to 20%, as is normal with many recent Asus motherboards. A CPU fan heade...

...Wide PWM range with low min RPM, HOWEVER I was not able to test below 750 RPM due to my mobo's BIOS limits... The solution is to run all the PWM fans as a chain using a splitter cable.... Lodestar, thank you but I'm afraid you misunderstand. The limitation is that the board does have PWM headers...

Re: Confused about CFM in undervolting conditions
The ultimate goal of any fan is to cool your system with the least noise. Temperature, however, depends entirely on your specific system; its case, components, ambient conditions, internal airflow, etc. There is zero way to predict this reliably ahead of time. It may very well be that your system do...

Looks like SPCR has reviewed this cooler and its included fans:

Just FYI if anyone stumbles on this thread later.
I myself went with the Venomous X since it fit my build much better.

Thermalright SIlver Arrow. Either the old SB or the newer SB-E (but not the SB-E Extreme). Just as if not slightly better thermal performance as the Noctua NH-D14, but with notably quieter fans.
Thermalright Venomous X if you have space issues. Replace the fan.

Re: Noiseblocker NB-eLoop 120mm fans
Keep us updated, I for one am extremely interested in these fans. It seems to segment their product line oddly, though. Before, it was BlackSilent = basic, BlackSilentPRO = high-end, and Multiframe = extreme high end. Now these eLoop fans look fantastic, soooo beautiful, but ultimately... are they a...

Re: Phanteks PH-F140TS bearing? (PH-TC14PE fans)
Hi. I recommend the Gentle Typhoon 800rpm@12v but they only come in 120mm i guess. Actually, if I was going to *replace* the fans, I would get a PWM fan... my mobo's CPU fan headers can only vary the PWM signal, not the voltage (unlike my chassis fan headers, which can vary either). Unless the GTs ...

Phanteks PH-F140TS bearing? (PH-TC14PE fans)
Hello, The new Phanteks PH-TC14PE cooler comes with 140mm PH-F140TS fans. These fans are listed as "updraft floating balance" bearings. Does anyone know what this means? Are these sleeve bearing, fluid dynamic bearing, what? More specifically, I want to know if they can run horizontally (i.e., blowi...

Re: Silverstone ST45SF-G 80PLUS Gold SFX PSU
Now we only need SPCR to test it  On that note, the “Gold Evolution” PSUs use a different, fluid-bearing fan from the rest of their lineup, and so should be (and are rated officially as) noticeably quieter than the example SPCR reviewed some time ago. I’m hoping that the 650W Gold Evo gets re...

WD5000LPVT (blue 2.5) vs WD5000AZRX (green 3.5) for 2nd HDD?
Hello all! This is my first topic on SPCR. Thanks for all the great info so far, it’s been really helpful. I am going to be building a Hackintosh, and my first computer build ever, this fall. I am still in the planning / researching stage, but I wanted your input on the storage. Given that my primar...

Re: Fast but quiet 750+ gb 7200 rpm HDD
I don't see the hype concerning SSD there pathetically low capacity and high price makes them competely useless even as boot drive. That’s a joke, right? SSD speed destroys HDDs. SSDs big enough for boot & key applications are easily affordable — e.g. highly-rated Crucial M4 64GB for $73 as of this...
