I was thinking the same thing. The text implied the P180 had a lower noise levels and the recording info backs that up. The table I assume is in error. MP3: P180 "Hot Potato", WD Raptor Drive, idle/seek: 25/ 29 dBA/1m MP3: SLK3000B, WD Raptor Drive, idle/seek: 26/ 39 dBA/1m I assume the seek reading...

I don't know much about the T-Balancer, but would suggest you only use 3 fans not 6. Choose either push or pull not both, because the cooling gain for both is negligible. Here's some testing from pro-cooling to prove it. http://phaestus.procooling.com/shrouds-BIX.GIF

Built in temp sensors are known to have horrible accuracy. The cpu temp sensor is probably reporting temps 5-10°C lower than real and the case sensor is probably in a area next to the video card so it is alot hotter than the air the cpu heatsink receives. He quoted his ambient temp to be 22-26°C so ...

I've not seen in a long time (if ever) that the graphics cards were created on a process smaller than CPU's. You won't be seeing .011 micron GFX-cards until Intel/AMD are there, I figure. Well Intel has .90 PressHots, so the CPU technology is there,(I know that Intel is having all kinds of problems...

I would get an Arctic VGA Silencer for the 9500 Pro. I don't know anything about Intel motherboads, but can suggest the Antec 3700BQE for a quiet case without much modding. For hard drives, the Maxtors set to Minimum Acoustic output using AAM should be quiet enough for a while, but I would not use t...

Good radiator Even though passive radiators like the Zalman look cool, the fittings are so small, and therefore restrict water flow a quiet pump like the Ehiem would easily become underpowered. There's no reason not to run a very very slow and quiet fan since a pump will probally be audible with a ...

I found those quite useful and not sure why you would want to remove them. I've owned a SLk2600 and found it quite a bit cramped c...

Assuming your PSU is 65% efficient, then it can supply 300w*0.65=195w. Now, I guessed on the burner/dvd drives but I have to imagine I'm on the high side with each. This is also assuming that everything in your system is running full bore at the same time. Thought that efficiency meant how much AC ...

You would probally be fine just putting a Zalman NB-47J. IRC the Geforce 4 MX is pretty much clocked the same as Geforce 2s with all most the same feature set and many of the Geforce 4 MX are sold with passive cooling solutions.

I've heard that if you mount the MCP600 with the inlet pointing up minimizes bearing noises. If you're not suspending it yet that would also be a good thing to do.

What to do with Whiny Western Dig?

I've got a friend with the above stated drive and it has one heck of a whine and seek noise. Would mounting it in something like a NoVibesIII help any since it's hard mounted at the moment. When I suggested just buying a new drive he was up for that, but wanted to be a SATA drive for less than $100....

Re: The Truth about PSU power ratings

Specify a low operating temperature for rated output. This is quite common, but again not often seen in consumer brochures, but rather tech spec sheets provided usually only on demand by engineers or corp buyers. A typical PSU operating temp statement is somthing like this: 0ºC ~25ºC for full ratin...

I have an Epox 8RDA3G which is the same but without SATA support. I just removed the fan from the northbridge and it has been doing fine for about a month now. The heatsink is good sized but you could just use a Zalman cooler if you wanted more security.
