Re: AMD Wraith: Upgraded Stock Cooler

maybe someone has the patience to explain what the fascination with this fan is? Just the fan or the whole cooler? sorry. the whole unit. Because it's the first "new" stock cooler design from either AMD or Intel in....forever. The stock coolers are also the baseline against which all 3rd party cool...

I too would love to see a mATX version of this and/or the H440. It surprises me that NZXT haven't done this yet.

Re: It looks like Silverstone PS07-E could be the next big h

I'm surprised Silverstone never iterated on the PS07/TJ08E with an ITX and/or ATX version. ITX would have been easy by chopping out two expansion slots and a 5 1/2" bay. ATX could have added more fan space/another bay, and the slots. This trio of new cases really does not strike me as particularly i...

There is at least one 240mm rad review, and I recall there being at least one other. Poke around the Cooling reviews section, and you can probably find them

Re: SilverStone Kublai KL05 Budget ATX Case

I think this case is definitely meant to be a budget water cooled case.

280 rad in the top, and/or 240/280 in front. And the 5 1/4 bays to support a reservoir/fan controller etc.

Re: NZXT H440 Mid Tower Case

Sincerely I don't know of any user in the forums I frequent who uses only an ssd and an hdd in his personal PC and in any case I believe these reviews in a "silent computing"-minded website lack in usefulness when the tests are rudimentary in this regard. In fact, I only have an SSD installed in my...

Re: NZXT H440 Mid Tower Case

I love my white H440. I never hear the fans in general usage, and while gaming the only fans I hear are the GPU fans. Not to say its "silent", but at my level of hearing, and ambient noise levels it might as well be. Admittedly, all the fans(case & HSF) are controlled by my Sabertooth, so easy enoug...

Re: My first build, advice on minimizing noise

I'd go Mugen 4 for the Heatsink, Crucial/Intel/Samsung for the SSD, and Asus DCU2 for the GPU. Unless you absolutely NEED fast storage, dump the HDD entirely or go with a 5x00 RPM version. You could go with a NAS/USB/Thumbdrive for storage. (or a server of some sort 8) ) For the RAM, go with somethi...

Re: MSI A88XM GAMING: Premium FM2+ Motherboard

I think AMD is still hoping their heterogeneous system architecture (HSA) will take off - but does FM2+ even support those processors? FM2+ (Kaveri) are the first HSA capable processors. So....Yes. If, IF , AMD can get HSA to take off, software wise, that could provide a boost to the value of Kaver...

Re: MSI A88XM GAMING: Premium FM2+ Motherboard

At a price of @300CAD for an A10-7850K and this mobo...what does one get on the Intel side? And how much would you have to spend to get equivalent functionality? And let's not forget that Mobo's like the MSI Gaming are at the absolute top end of the FM2+ market. A relatively closely priced Z97 board...

Re: Asus AMD graphics card

I've been running my 7870 OC'd for more than a year now, and it is showing no signs of reliability issues. I very much doubt that the reduction in lifespan of the card will make much difference, as it's likely to be replaced long before it fails. (It'll likely be replaced with a 300 series when they...

Re: Asus AMD graphics card

With Asus cards, look for DC2 in the product number. For general usage, with limited gaming focus, I'd actually consider an Nvidia GTX 750Ti. It has a very respectable power/performance ratio. If you are set on an AMD, then I'd go for a R9 270/270X. It should be more than enough for high setting gam...

Re: My version of TH's 0dB gaming PC - viable option?

Depending on the games you play, and if any of the upcoming games you might play support Mantle, you might want to think about a Kaveri APU and a Dual Graphics'd R7-240/250. The Kaveri A8 can be dialed to 45/65WTDP and with Dual graphics you should be able to game 1080p between 30-60fps(without Mant...

Re: HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8

I looked at getting one of these, but settled on a Gen7 Microserver(N54L). The cost and apparent lack of (official) support for WHS2011 made me go for the older model. The upside to the Gen8 is that it, if BIOS supports, could be upgraded to an i5-3470T, or with a TDP stretch to 45W, perhaps an i7-3...

Sapphire has just announced a new Vapor-X branded HSF.

If the performance (Noise/Cooling) is decent, I think I might grab one, being a bit of a Sapphire fanboi.

Re: be quiet! Dark Rock 2 Tower Heatsink

Having read the reviews here, and at both Tweaktown and Kitguru, I find that while the SPCR review gives even better reviews of the sound level(stock fan), 24dba vs 29 and 42(!) in the other reviews, the big difference is in the temperatures observed. While the Kitguru Temperatures are significantly...
