Case Fans - BQ, Noctua, others?

Hi guys, I'm looking at the SPCR fan reviews as I need to purchase a few for my new case. Just wanted to gather a few opinions before I commit to buying anything. I'm looking for fans that are quiet and have a pleasing audio signature. They should also be able to push a respectable amount of air at ...

Re: Out of the silent loop for awhile; looking for build adv

Thanks for the help, Steve. I didn't notice the DDR3/4 change, tragic. Looks like I will have to invest a bit more. Audio quality isn't a real issue for me, as long as things don't sound 8-bit. If I was looking for a board that had a better codec, could you please recommend one? I don't think I have...

Out of the silent loop for awhile; looking for build advice

Hi guys, I haven't been paying much attention to computers over the last few years, but I am thinking of upgrading my old Sandy Bridge system since it is 6-7 years old. I've selected the following parts: - CPU: Intel i5-7400 (don't care about overclocking, don't do video editing or other CPU-intense...

Re: Any insight on Redux fans compared to the brown lineup ?

Why were there no Noctua fans in the last couple of fan round-ups? Surely they are some of the more popular fans for people on this website. I've been rather skeptical of them (and of their price tag) but it seems like these redux ones have come down in price dramatically.

Disparity between comparison scores (120mm)

Not sure if this has been explained already, but I have noticed that some of the fan results in the latest review (Sharkoon/Silverstone fans) are different to the results posted in previous reviews. For instance, the bequiet! Silent Wings 2 fan records 34 C @ 11 dB in this review (http://www.silentp...

Another great review, thanks guys.

Phanteks seem like the best choice, but we can't even get the heatsinks here lol. Truequiets of the 140mm variety also seem like a solid choice.

Re: Noctua NH-U12S Slim Tower Heatsink

I have no special love for Noctua (defending a company is wasting one's breath), but the bashing is getting tiresome. The fan specs not matching has been discussed many times. Different specs result from different measurements, it's subjective data since there is no well-adopted standard. Products ...

Re: Noctua NH-U12S Slim Tower Heatsink

Is there a single Noctua fan whose specifications aren't an explicit lie? I've been through all the Noctua reviews on this site and not one has matched up against their so-called 'specs.' Even funnier, the fan is beaten by a fair margin at the ~12dB level by the Nexus, despite it being about one-thi...

It would, but it's pretty hard to find. In Australia, the 600/700/800w Golden Greens can be found in small amounts of stock, but I'm yet to see the 450 or lower wattage units anywhere. However, given that the Golden Kings/Silents are tweaked versions of the Golden Greens, I hope Super Flower will ev...

I don't understand how it is possible for all these companies to screw up something like heatsink concavity. How can they let this slip by, when they could easily test it themselves and make changes for a better connection? I see it in virtually every SPCR review, sans a few of the higher end models...

Nanoxia Deep Silence 1

http://www.quietpc.com/na-ds1 Anyone seen this case yet? Seems to have a pretty nice appearance (kinda like a fridge xD) and some worthwhile noise-reduction strategies (absorption foam, no open vents on the side/top, choked front intake, inbuilt fan controller etc) in addition to some neat little en...

Re: Noiseblocker NB-eLoop 120mm fans

The review on OC.net isn't ideal because these fans are strictly single purpose push fans. As soon as there is something disturbing airflow less than 1cm in front of the fan, like a fan grate, a dust filter or a heatsink they can drone. If used in a push configuration I found you can run them ~300R...

Re: New build - various fan questions.

Welcome to SPCR! Thank you for finding the recommended pages on your own. Can you post a sketch? I can't imagine what a 6 fan intake configuration will look like. PWM fans are a good idea with FanExpert2, they can go to very low RPM, regular fans are capped at 40%. The Noiseblocker M12 has rubber m...

I'm a long time reader but first time writer here. I was suddenly faced with a dilemma and I figured you guys would probably be the best persons to ask. A Silverstone rep over at OCN stated that the AP182 series will spit out more air at a given dba level than the 181 series, which means quieter fans for us :) Can't say i'm unhappy with the 181s though, they've been working pretty well. Does anyone here have experience with Sanyo Denki (San Ace) fans? I recently purchased a San Ace 9S1212L4011 after hearing good things about them. Re: Sapphire Radeon GHz EDITION HD7770 1GB 11201-00-20G

1300 rpm is alright. I have a Sapphire 7850 and 20% = ~1250rpms, which is more or less silent in my system. In fact, I cannot perceive any change in noise between 20% and 35% fan speed, even with my head next to the intake (FT02, case fans running at ~350rpms.) 1300 may sound like alot but I believe...

Re: What's with the Noctua fascination?

Problem is, that insinuates that Noctua fans are better than the other fans discussed here. I argue that they aren't - in fact, they are worse in a bunch of different metrics Sure, people might be happy with their purchase, but they could be happy with spending 60 dollars on a fan as well, or a 5 do...
