"Gap?"

Also, the BH7 is easily the smallest ATX case available, which is where my concern about volume comes in (multiple GPUs, PCIe SSD + m.2/u.2).

Re: A Silent CaseLabs Bullet?

I'm also very interested in this line. With modern GPUs having lower TDPs and shorter PCBs, as well as the shift towards m2/u2 drives, it was only a matter of time before manufacturers statted producing chassis designed around short-throw, direct airflow (there's also the Riotoro 1080, which appears...

Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide

According to the German review you provided in the next post, they do work as well as reference cards. Are we reading the same review? When they rotated the case by 90° - turning it into a conventional one - the reference card's temps rose by 4c, the DirectCU II card's temps rose by 3c. I think you...

Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide

Unfortunately the MK-26, Morpheus, and similar wouldn't fit on any motherboard currently available (at least not in SLI). All of these coolers require three slots without fans and a fourth with fans. The only reason to go SLI with cards of this caliber is if you're a) at 4k, b) at 3440x1440, c) a ve...

Easy their pal, no need to be unfriendly... Non-reference GPUs increase CPU temps in just about ANY closed case. I know - that's what I said :) :?: How? Think of the the heatsinks as huge radiators emitting heat - if the total heat of the heatsink is lower, the case temperature will be lower... :?: ...

Re: Quiet SLI Gaming PC Build Guide

I'm disappointed that this wasn't investigated further (or at all...). With this great discrepancy in temps, I would almost suspect a faulty card/cooler. Not only is the card 20c hotter, the fan is also spinning faster. The "top" GPU - in this case the one on the right - should get worse airflow. I...

It would've been really interesting to see the results with a) a dual tower CPU cooler (this is enthusiast air after all, $50 isn't breaking the bank at $1700) and b) had you guys tested a card besides the Zotac. The Zotac is an outstanding card by all measures and reviews, but, besides it's high mi...

Re: Anyone built a silent Silverstone FT02 watercooled rig?

What edh said is true - you can get the Raijntek Morpheus or MK-26 for your GPU to handle the noise and save a lot of time and money over watercooling.

That said, almost every modern watercooling pump will be quieter than the H60 you're using.

Re: Blower vs. Accelero vs OEM for Crossfire/SLI

I am not sure if you're concerned, but I think you're reading the chart incorrectly. Although I'm not sure if the s12b and s12a are comparable, I do know that both are slow spinning case fans that don't direct air that well and create very little pressure. If you look at the "radiator noise" section...

Re: Blower vs. Accelero vs OEM for Crossfire/SLI

I don't know if you're keeping the loop, but you might try decoupling your pump by suspending it or putting it on thick foam, it makes a significant difference when compared to a hard-mount situation . You might also try different fans - while NF-S12s are quiet, but they aren't exactly great for air...

Re: Blower vs. Accelero vs OEM for Crossfire/SLI

That is unfortunate, sorry to hear, and sorry to take so long in responding. Had I responded earlier I would have said something like: The Accelero Hybrid and "the Mod" are good options, but the 290/x is an incredibly hot card, and it's unlikely that a heatsink and a single fan would be enough to ke...

Re: Blower vs. Accelero vs OEM for Crossfire/SLI

IME, with about 3mm between my SLI setup, an Accelero will not workout for you. They will be starved for air and with a GPU as hot as the r9 290 you are sure to run into throttling issues and the like. Most SLI/Crossfire owners suggest blower coolers, but this will obviously not suffice either as th...

Re: CPU cooler on GPU (super silent cooling)

I use Kuhler 620s to cool my GTX 470 SLI setup. While it is significantly quieter than the reference fan the pump noise is definitely the loudest component until my ap181s spin up on load (I let them hit ~1100 rpm when benching). You can learn more about "the mod" here. I was intending on trying you...

Re: Quietest GTX 650 Ti

which turbo module are you referring to? The 1 w/ 1 fan or the 1 w/ 3 fans? And doesn't this defeat the purpose of passive cooler? If we add a Accelero S1, then 1 or 3 fans. Wel then we might as well use the original stock fan. Why would any1 buy a accelero, then either 1 or 3 turbo fan to replace ...

Re: Quietest GTX 650 Ti

It should work - the only difference between the cards is the slight overclock on the "boost" version. Otherwise they have the same TDP. You may have to lower the overclock to reference if the card gets too hot.

Re: Request to SPCR Plz Review: MSI TriFrozr Lightning gtx 7

I apologize, I see now how my post could be taken as argument. I was merely saying that it's worth looking at more than the noise results from TPU reviews because if the quietest card, card A, is running 10* hotter and only 2db quieter than another card (B) with stock fan profiles that would suggest...

Re: Request to SPCR Plz Review: MSI TriFrozr Lightning gtx 7

It should be noted that TPU doesn't change any settings at all when reviewing graphics cards, so when comparing noise levels of different cards a few things besides their noise measurement should be considered: - Max GPU temperature with stock fan profile - if it's quieter but 10* hotter then it's n...

Re: Passive 650 ti?

Nah - at idle my fans run less than 500RPM, ~750RPM on load. It's the pumps - they have a tendency to whine and chirp, regardless of what voltage I run them at. This might be different with the latest generation of Asetek coolers though.

Re: Passive 650 ti?

I would highly discourage an AIO or an Accelero Hybrid for quiet use, particularly if you're mostly in idle. While they are quieter on load than most aftermarket coolers (worlds of difference from a reference blower) they are definitely louder at idle.

Re: Looking for quiet ATI card (asus gtx 670 noise lvl)

I would have to say that NVIDIA do manage better long term driver support than AMD. They don't tend to kill off support for a series of cards for much longer. Also if you want OpenGL and support under something other than Windows then NVIDIA is the only real choice - fglrx is a bad driver. This. Ge...
