Re: Will HFX EF28 power my rig?

Just in case anyone else is interested. I bought a simple socket power monitor and ran some tests on my current system (i.e. without the GTX660). At stock settings the full system consumes a peak of 59.8W running Intel Burn Test from the wall.... setting the VCORE to 0.92V I get a peak of 53.6W. I'm...

Re: Fanless gaming PC ( Streacom FC5, GTX660ti )

Yea modding the cooler was always the plan though my only real requirement was for the computer to be 100% silent at idle / watching movies, which it managed if I allowed the AFOX to idle at 70C.

Re: Fanless gaming PC ( Streacom FC5, GTX660ti )

The airflow in the fc5 case is not good so maybe components with fans will struggle to get the hot air out of the case. Yeah, After a couple of months of use I cut a hole in the top of the case which attached to the output of the gpu fan.... So It was ventilated pretty well. After changing to the i...

Will HFX EF28 power my rig?

Hey, Previously I've ran a dual laptop psu build, but I just recently discovered the HFX EF28 and was wondering if this could power my whole rig: Intel i3-3220 KFA2 GTX 660 Gigabyte GA-Z77M-MVP 2x DDR3 RAM 64GB SSD According to the eXtreme Power supply calculator I'll be near 18.5A on the 12V rail.....

Re: Fanless gaming PC ( Streacom FC5, GTX660ti )

Wow nice build. I built something similar with my streacom fc5 case (A6-3500K + AFOX 7850 single slot + Dual PSU) except I decided against full passive cooling (hard / expensive to get parts in Australia). Running 2x laptop psu's (1 plugged into the PCIe extender + PCIe power, and the other into a S...

Re: 65W TDP FM1 CPU for gaming

Well I've installed the GPU. Everything works fine. I've two 12V power supplies, a 120W going to the picopsu and another 192W is directly wired to the PCI-E power connector and PCI-E bus extender for the gpu. I haven't done any case mods to improve airflow yet. Giant mess of wires, Foam pads are jus...

Re: 65W TDP FM1 CPU for gaming

CPU bottleneck: depends on the games, resolution, and quality settings. Gaming at 1080P, mostly console ports. Yup, totally agreed. No way this case will be able to handle that kind of heat. You might have a ghost of a chance if you came up with customized heatblock to the GPU & nicely designed hea...

65W TDP FM1 CPU for gaming

I've a passively cooled undervolted & overclocked A6-3500 in a Streacom F5C case and I'm going to be adding a single slot AFOX HD 7850. I'm just wondering whether the CPU will significantly bottleneck the GPU in this configuration? If so what is the best FM1 socket cpu under these conditions? or sho...
