Re: New cooling by submergence strategy

I looked into a similar fluid from 3m about 1 year ago and saw a youtube video with a test with consumer board and it worked very well. They used ducttape to get it airtight so it probably leaked a bit but not noticably. The liquid turned to gas at a bit above 40 degrees celcius so the contactsurfac...

Re: if i want to buy the new pc than which config is best..?

in my opinion this is a bit a vague question as we don't know if you mean (most) eficient, fast(est) or something else with latest cpu/memory.
and would a apu be worth considering or do you need/have a seperate gpu

Re: Crazy? or not...

i'm a bit short in time so i will say it a bit simple, but basicly is you want to stop sound from going trough a panel/wall, you want it as have but as flexibel as posible. concrete works because of its weight, brick is a bit worse because of less weight with the same stiffness. 2 brick walls with a...

you work on assumption like any good science would, objects move towards each other so you asume there is something like gravity. maybe it's usefull to add a bit more information? i'm not that knowlageble about psu's but i think you could limit your choiches a bit yourself..... since you don't have a case yet is a passive psu an option? then i believe you only need to search for one that does not have a weird buzz or something...

Re: Passive house ventilation with computer fans

Thanks a lot for your reply, mercyfull_fate. no problem, fun to have a thread more in the direction of my "expertise" One of the reasons I have left Netherlands (hoi, ik ben Nederlands :-)) is that it's really difficult to build a passive house there. First of all because a plot of land would be re...

Re: Passive house ventilation with computer fans

Your reasons for not wanting centralised ventilation apear to be: -noise, this is usualy caused by: -airducts that are to small, if they are designed better that would be no problem. -the centralised ventilation system is not in an unused room(the best place usualy is in an attic or something) or it...

if i understand the video right it isn't a real replacement for fans but only a localised alternative for fans as the in and outtake apears to be on the same side. it would apear more usefull to me if in and out take are on oposite sides....

most likely it was a option you had to deselect, although its not often very obvious as i got a request of some extra software sometimes that was disguised as an agreement for the actual softwar i tried to install.... so i agree most of those software providers are very rude bastards.... as for the ...

Interesting question, i have the same case, and never considered the paint not being conductive. I have (had) a problem with white stripes apearing on any monitor i connect, it is kinda inpredictable when they start and stop apearing. i conected the problem with the lack of ground in the wall socket...

depending on the frequencies i believe chicken wire or probably something with smaller holes would work for emv but im not completely sure, i believe it just needs to be a faraday cage with small enough holes for higher frequencies. then you can still have it essentially open for ventilation purpose...

.... Have you actually swapped your side panels around as you described? ..... I have the fractal define mini aswell and swaped the 2 side panels, although i did it mostly for estetic reason because my grand kama cross has enough room. Re: swapping psufan huntkey jumper 300g

I looked it up and it does have temperature regulated fan control, so thats worth a try, thanks, in its original state i never noticed a diference in noise between idle and load tho. It will be a bit of a pain to get that plastic part of the conector of the psu tho.... edit: I hooked the fractal cas...

Re: swapping psufan huntkey jumper 300g

Reading your post I get the feeling that no PSU fan is ever going to be quiet enough for you. Perhaps you should be looking at a fanless solution; maybe a PicoPSU+brick could handle your power requirements. well i can't hear the scythe gt 800rpm at max or the fractal design fans at 5 volt so as i'm...

swapping psufan huntkey jumper 300g

The fan of my psu, a huntkey jumper 300g (i believe its called90r in other regions), makes noticably more noise then other fans in my case, a fractal design mini, and its a bit to noisy for my taste. I'm using the bottem psu intake of the case, i actualy tried turning it around so it takes in air fr...

Re: PC in aquarium full of mineral oil

I did some measurements, the box is 9x28x16 cm so it won't even fit a mitx board. Even if i don't submerge the entire motherboard i still would not be able to close the lid of the box. So guess i will have to find some other metal container. I also measured how much energy my current llano pc uses, ...

Re: Fractal R3 - how to remove fan doors?

But then you would have both the case door and fan door open. i believe when you remove the fan door but close the case front door only a small amount would leak through the front case door. And if you keep the front casedoor open there would be no benefit of the sound absorbtion and isolation of th...

Re: Fractal R3 - how to remove fan doors?

I'm wondering does the airflow actualy go trough the fan doors? i have a fractal design mini and there the air bypasses the fandoors but comes from the sides behind the fan doors. (there might of course be some leakage and removing the doors might actualy improve airflow but only in a very limited w...

Re: PC in aquarium full of mineral oil

I was considering making a new thread but guess i can just as well reawaken this one. I'm considering putting a pc in a old steel amunition box submerged in oil as a useable experiment. I still have to check the actual size of the case but think it is close to 30x20x10 cm. I have a matx motherboard ...
