Really nice build. Inaudible is worth 1.5 liters, no doubt.

Thank you both for your replies! Can't wait for some SPCR testing of this 200mm fan once it's out.

Re: Noctua's new fans coming
The 200mm fan has a poor angle between the trailing edges of the blades and the struts: http://noctua.at/media/wysiwyg/computex/2016/200mm_fan.jpg Could you expand on this, as in consequences, speculate on reasons for, and also possibly a comparison with other large fans, like the 180mm, and 220mm ...

Re: Noctua's new fans coming
I've been waiting forever for the 200mm fans. Announced and to be launched in Q3 in '13, '14, and '15. Maybe four times a charm? I watched their video and at least they're upfront about the troubled development.

Re: AMD A10-7890K 95W Flagship APU
The A8-7600 was always the sweet spot of the Kaveri APU range. Even AMD knew it but I gather delayed its introduction as they wanted to sell the higher margin A10-7850k instead. Waited seven months after launch for availability, and paid 80€/GBP68 incl tax for the 7600 back in 2014. Incredible value...

Re: AMD A10-7860K & Athlon 880K: Kaveri Refresh
Yes the A8-7600 certainly has been the performance per dollar champ, no question. I got it on sale for $80 roughly a year ago. All the Kaveri APUs, are very memory intensive. DO NOT USE 1866 memory modules. Get 8GB 2133 dual rank. I got ADATA's 2x4GB AX3U2133W4G10-DR for mine. You will notice a sign...

Re: Linkwitz Orion speaker project
I remember finding Linkwitz site and immersing myself in his writing, and the speaker designs. In the end I chose another route, still dipole, still with active crossover and multiple amplifiers. It would be great to hear a pair of Orions one day. Mike, I'm curious how much time and money it took to...

Great reading about these two projects of yours. Doing stuff, making, taking things apart, putting them together. So much more fun than just buying ready made stuff.

Re: Lian Li PC-Q10 Mini-ITX Case
Nice review. I like Lian-Li cases, as I already have two, at each end of the size spectrum, HPTX and M-ITX. I totally agree with this assessment: "That being said, the PC-Q10 gives off a vibe that suggests it was designed by engineers focusing on the big picture, rather than PC hobbyists putting ext...

Interesting mobo. A comparison to the ASRock X99E-ITX/ac would be nice.

Quiet optical drive - any reviews or measurements
I'm looking for a quiet optical drive. It will be placed in a SFF case. Are there any tests or recommendations of optical drives for noise levels, without any special enclosures?

Re: Streacom Cases and > 200W Fanless PSU
I'm really excited about the fanless PSU and the DB4 chassis. I wouldn't mind the 95 TDP Kaveri APU and completely skip on any additional GPU. The perfect HTPC and/or entry gaming solution. Kaveri APU does 28-50 fraps in BF4 so it's powerful enough. Cooling the VRMs with a 95 TDP processor might be ...

Re: Best noise-canceling headphones?
I got a pair of Nokia in-ear, passive and active noise cancelling, APT-X (requires APT-X in the pc, which is included in Apple's units), with microphone for talking. It's got NFC as well. Don't know if it'll fit your usage scenario.

Re: In search of a PSU without coil whine / electrical noise
As for grounding a computer without ground in the wall outlet, would it not be possible to ground directly to e g a metal radiator? While better than no earth, that is also bad. The plumbing and any metal structure of a building needs to be earthed but should not be used as the earth itself. Theref...

Re: A relatively silent dual CPU quadruple GPU PC - possible
I've calculated the total power need to around 1675W using the "extreme" psu calculator. That's going to be quite an overestimate. They always do, then many end users end up putting an extra 50% on top again and you end up with twice the PSU you actually need. The actual market for PSUs of this siz...

A relatively silent dual CPU quadruple GPU PC - possible?
Thank you SPCR for testing out higher powered PSUs and measuring their dBA under rigorous conditions. I'm building a rendering working station for my home office. I've got hold of a couple of Xeon X5650 (so 12 cores, 24 threads), 3xGTX580s and a Quadro card. I plan to overclock the Xeons to 4.0Ghz u...

Re: In search of a PSU without coil whine / electrical noise
Very interesting discussion. Silence is paramount (well obviously on here) and with today's high performing platinum rated PSUs, with extremely stable and low ripple performance, I would expect this to be the next area to address for the Power Supply manufacturers, at least now with digital supplies...
