Hi, if I can get both for the same price but don't need the extra wattage, which one will be quieter? I think I remember reading that the 650 was quieter, I'm just not sure it was about this model.
Thanks

does any happen to know the noise levels? I've heard it's pretty similar to a console.

Re: PSU replacement. i5 + gtx 1080
Don't think it matters at your loads. Here's a comparison at hardware.info in googlish. Tom's Hardware found the 550x's fan to be off until 275W while under 35-45C ambient conditions and then only popped up to 600rpm well past your stress load. So, worst case, in the summer, the fan would turn on d...

The Dell 27" 144hz is known to make a buzzing sound.

PSU replacement. i5 + gtx 1080
Hi, I'm going to replace my fanless seasonic 520, there's too much whine, and otherwise the system is silent. i5 4690, 16gb ram, h97i plus. I'm currently running a strix 970 but I'll probably be upgrading to something like the 1070 or the 1080, so I probably need around 600-650 to be safe? or perhap...

Re: quietest Noctua cpu cooler
Also, should I change the stock fans in the phanteks evolv? If you correctly drive them, absolutely no: though personally I don't like that much the Evolv airflow scheme, according to SPCR its PH-F140SP fan are among the best sounding 140mm fans available in the market. Isn't that the older PH-F140...

Re: quietest Noctua cpu cooler
The scythes and thermalright are hard for me to get, while the noctuas are easy. I already own an NH 12S I could use, how does it compare to the 14S you mentioned? The setup in planning had to be inaudible at idle even up close so that's why I'm asking shot all that info. Also, should I change the s...

Re: quietest Noctua cpu cooler
Phanteks ENTHOO Evolv ATX. I'd prefer noctua, I'd like to know the best noctua, and perhaps the best non-noctua alternative I could look at.
thanks!
thanks!

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
Hmm, I received the case and the PSU and it looks like it'll be too tight unless I flip it upside down, but thats not a good idea for a fanless psu right? otherwise I can also turn it around but then there's no holes for the screws.. Except for one, does a psu have to be screwed to the case? otherwi...

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
and if I do get them, should I get the PWM or the regular version? Its a little complicated to explain, and you seem to want a straight answer, too many varaiables, but here it goes, really depends into how are you going to control them. First decide how you want to control 1) Fan Controller Get th...

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
I ordered the noctua, that way I dont have to spend another 5 hours trying to figure out what fan to put on the Promalitech :D Absolute last thing! for the 2 92mm fans. The Noctua SSO Bearing Fan Retail Cooling NF-B9 Redux-1600 should be the quietest one? and should I go for the PWM version or the r...

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
any reason to go with one in particular? IMO mainly the dimensions: according to me the smaller, the better (inside the cramped space of a Node 304). do you think the noctua would be audible at the lowest setting? newegg says 18.6 dB(A) ( w/ U.L.N.A.) which seems kinda high I will also be removing ...

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
Alright guys, I've made some more decisions :D I ordered the MSI GTX 960 and the Noctua 140mm fan Abula recommended, the psu (I saw a few builds with it), the ssd, ram, cpu. So lastly the cooler, Abula recommended the Prolimatech PRO-ARMGD and quest Noctua NH-U12S. They'd probably both end up at the...

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
Alright, I've ordered the Node 304. 1. For the CPU cooler you recommended, the Kotetsu, the Noctua NH-U14S and the Argon. The kotetsus is kinda hard to find but I could probably get my hands on one if it's really worth it. For me the easiest ones to get are probably the be quiets and the noctuas but...

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
btw, Abula, the MSI 960 is interesting but only has 2GB, do you think ill notice a difference over the 4gb strix? It really depends on the games, very few games will use over 2gb, there are some like skyrm with their mods that do take the advantage, but imo its not worth the extra investment for a ...

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
Would I really gain anything from going skylake? Slightly better performance, slightly more efficient, as most things with intel, its baby steps =). as for the GPU, I'm more concerned about noise at idle, whenever I play games I'll usually have headphones on so I won't care. With the case sitting o...

Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
thanks for your reply, yeah the NH-l12 cause I realised I can't get the rosewill w1 for a decent price in canada, it would cost like 375$... my options are the 250D or the 240 Air so my cooler options are really limited I think. Re: NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
Welcome to SPCR. 11-12dB @ 6V is pretty darn quiet. (SPCR's anechoic chamber's noise floor is 10-11dB). Then, put it inside a case. Should be inaudible. All this assumes your unknown CPU can be cooled well with the fans @ 700-900rpm and the rest of the unknown pc components aren't dumping lots of h...

NH-L12 running at the lowest speed
Hi there, I was reading the review for it but I don't find it 100% clear yet, would a NH-L12 at 6V(or whatever is lowest with the PWM) be considered silent? I currently have a mac mini which I consider silent, could I expect the same level of noise from that cooler assuming the rest of the pc is fan...

Replacement for TX750
Hi there, I'm currently making changes to my system to make it as quiet as possible and I'm almost done, the last step would be changing the PSU. Now, I'd buy the fanless Seasonic 520W since that's how much power my PC really needs but I find it too expensive on newegg.ca atm. What would be my other...
