Re: Monitor for $200 or less? (Used OK)

19" may be too small for 1920x1080. I would take 21-24". Yeah, I used U2412M too before switching to 27" 1440p. iirc it's not PWM flickering-free though (or did they fix that in newer revisions?), so may cause fatigue for some people... Though it's not really proven that it causes fatigue or other n...

Looks like there is a new 6 TB WD Red replacing older WD60EFRX.

Anyone used it? Is it still not helium?

It depends on app and OS, modern apps usually don't have scaling issues and there are some improvements in each major Windows update, but yeah 1440p is the safest choice.

Actually it seems to be something specific to Das: tried 2 models when encountered this for the first time (old Ultimate version from 2012 and the latest Ultimate), both didn't work.

Founders Editions are probably not the best choice for silence even in 2xxx because they don't turn off the fans in idle unlike many other cards from Asus/MSI/Palit/...

Re: GPU watercooling?

Yeah, many MSI/Asus/Palit/... GPUs turn off the fans in idle and during gaming it doesn't matter much because of the sound/headphones.

Also most users don't want to mess with replacing the GPU cooler + some think that it voids the warranty (afaik it's not, though may depend on manufacturer, country).

hm, looks like in most coil whine reports people say that it's only in idle and disabling C-states or C1E removes or decreases it.

So maybe it's not a big issue then, as I understand disabling C-states only a bit decreases power efficiency in idle (like +5W).

The best quiet RTX 270: Asus Strix vs MSI Gaming?

I am planning to build a new gaming/work PC soon (1440p 144Hz), so since GTX 1080/1080 Ti are no longer available the only choice seems to be RTX 270 (280 is too expensive and probably not necessary, I doubt that we will see something interesting requiring Raytracing in this generation). Buildzoid (Actually Hardcore Overclocking) made a video showing several types of inductors and explaining how they cause coil whine, also suggested some ideas for mods to reduce coil whine.

They tested powerful gaming PC in BeQuiet 601 with stock 2 fans, doesn't seem like a fair comparison, it shouldn't be used like that.

Also there are other noises besides fans: coil whine, HDD vibration, ...
Maybe BeQuiet is better for that.

Yeah, by resolution I mean the most common monitor size for that resolution without scaling, like 21-24" for 1080p and 27-32" for 1440p.

afaik for Premiere RTX are better than 1xxx GPUs, but 2070 is almost the same as 2080 Ti.

So 2070 (or 2060 when it's released) may be a better choice if the budget is not too limited.

A 1440p monitor is recommended due to the increased amount of digital workspace and multitasking capability it offers compared to a 1080p monitor, though some users may prefer 2 1080p monitors. Windows currently does not scale 4K monitors well. And some may prefer 2 1440p :) Or 1 40" 4K. Or ultrawi...
