Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

Thanks. That explains it for the video, good to know, I was wondering why :D I agree for the failsafe. I can run this card passively until I receive my Scythe without worrying of it burning out, even when gaming. This 42 % threshold seems unnecessary for this model. MSI got out a nice card, the most...

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

Well, I might not do a video after all. The PC makes a rattling sound I don't even hear myself, and the fans blowing out air seems to make less noise than they really do. It wouldn't be a really accurate proof :D Now I think the EVGA card is just fine and probably not much louder than other cards. I...

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision X are working fine with it, but I'm not sure it's what you're referring to. I plan to remove the fans to attach one simple low RPM Scythe on it, it should be enough. The card seems to run really cool, I was still around 25° after 15-20 mns on COD Ghost. The MSI one...

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

I'm almost surprized it's not quieter... It's only 1200 RPM or so, apparently, but then there are two running, I noticed that it was more bearable if I manually stopped either one of them. A failed card? I will ask on another forum to check, some people there got EVGA 750 Ti too.

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

I actually finish building it, couldn't wait  Damn that EVGA is loud. I tried without it, only with my Fractal Arc Midi R2 fans+Scythe Mugen 4 and it was almost inaudible in a quiet room (I'll probably replace case fans by 1 or 2 Scythe). Then I added the EVGA, WOOOSH  Can't get the fa...

I wonder if Asus Fan Xpert II would work, it is known to be compatible with some older motherboads originally bundled with Xpert I.

From what I understand, EVGA, Zotac, and MSI all the way.

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

Maybe, noise wise, it's more rational buying the cheapest one available, and then slap an Accelero S1 Plus on it. While i dont disagree with you, i dont think its for everybody, voiding warranties , having sometimes coolers that dont fit 100%, etc, its something that not all do. Personally i love t...

Re: Passively Cooled R9 270 by Powercolor

I unfortunately can't answer your questions, but thanks a lot for the feedback. Funny how I had planned to get a similar rig, at least for the graphic card, fans and CPU cooler (Scythe Mugen 4, right? Does it perform well sound-wise?). I personnaly change my mind for an EVGA 750 Ti that I hope to mo...

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

The MSI version seems to stand out noise-wise: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-750-ti-review,3750-19.html I wonder how well will perform Asus and Gigabyte. Speaking of coolers, a passive version should just be a matter of time... right? I may be forced to upgrade from my 650 Ti if on...

Re: GTX 750Ti sips power

An interesting line from Guru3D's MSI GTX 750 Ti Gaming review: The idle results are brilliant, the fan will even turn itself off when the GPU idles. Very nice indeed, I would be curious to see the possibilies. Can the fan be turned off manually? Turned down to low RPM? When does the fan restarts? ...

Re: Passively Cooled R9 270 by Powercolor

Thanks a lot for the input! I just ordered the card. About €210 for the card, fan, and zip ties, delivery included. I will make sure to come here and write a feedack once tested. A 7750 Ultimate would have been more simple and half the price, but it scores around 2500 at 3D Mark 2011 against 7500-80...

Re: Passively Cooled R9 270 by Powercolor

Well, at least it's only above 80° C, could be worse :D

For those who already tried or managed to attach a fan to this kind of rad, what would you use? Just zip ties?

First time for me, and those zip ties have a wide range of width! (2,5 mm looks like a common one)

Re: Passively Cooled R9 270 by Powercolor

Thanks a lot for the reference. I'm actually impressed by the RPM of those Gigabyte fans, I thought Asus and Gigabyte had them running around 1,000 on idle. It doesn't seem to be the case on all Windforce model though, I read that that the Gigabyte WF R9 270 could only go as low as 1,370 rpm at 20%....

Re: Passively Cooled R9 270 by Powercolor

I suppose it depends on where you set the FPS/resolution bar. A 7750 Ultimate is somehow "easy" as a fanless GPU solution compared to the 7850/R9 270 SCS3 model, but performances aren't quite the same. I don't have that many games that can't run on a 7750, but the gaming experience it starting to sh...

Re: Passively Cooled R9 270 by Powercolor

I'm interested about what "air cooling" refers to for this card (or the 7850). I don't mind noise when I'm gaming, but question is: will it cope with 3x400-500 RPM case fans in idle, and those same fans at high speed when gaming? That being said, it might perform well with a low RPM fan attached on ...

Re: Passively Cooled R9 270 by Powercolor

I just hope temperatures will be better than the 7850 SCS3, but the rad looks smaller. I'm curious to see how it goes, because I might buy one.
