Re: Akasa for an ASRock Q2900 Motherboard
NUC is smaller than mini-ITX. I used a mesh alike case I found on an auction. There are similar Antec cases. Fanless and open design.

Re: Bay-Trail vs AM1 (and the winner is...)
I had the same dilemma, and went the third way - Haswell. The only, but also very important reason, was that I wanted to use ZFS as file system. This implieds ECC ram, which is not possible on AM1. BayTrail motherboards with ECC are available, but they have about the same power consumption as Haswe...

Re: Bay-trail motherboards
The GPU is very small part of the SoC, so I doubt it can add significant part of heat. Without display you can run some phoronix benchmarks like blogbench that seems to put a lot of load on the system.

Re: Bay-Trail vs AM1 (and the winner is...)
The strongest AM1 get better scores in benchmarks than J1900. As I use primarily Linux the problem free (and open source) Intel drivers are better choice than AMD (their driver can be very annoying sometimes :P), but if it actually works without problems over long period of time then it's not that m...

Re: ECS J2900
Should be bit stronger than J1900 (I wonder by how much). Compared to Asrock they went with the 8GB RAM limitation.

Re: Bay-trail motherboards
PCIe x1 can't be used for graphic card (maybe with extra PSU), otherwise this seems to be the best Bay-Trail board so far. Because lets face it, for boards with idle around 10-15 W, there is no classic PSU. :) I'm testing three x16 graphic cards connected via riser-alike board to the Asrock x1 slot...

Re: Bay-trail motherboards
Good day. Does anybody know the height of the cooler on AsRock Q1900? Chieftec makes some nice cases 01B and 03B, but the cooler height without optional addon is ca 30 mm. The highest element on Q1900B-ITX are the audio outputs - 35 mm. The radiator isn't very high, even the SODIMM end up bit highe...

Re: Bay-trail motherboards
There is PCIe x1 Zotac nVidia GT610. There are also [ mod: deleted non-functional link ]Chinese funky risers for x1 to x16 where power comes from molex or SATA power cables and logic is passed from x1 to x16 riser via USB3 cable - I'll be testing that with bit old nVidia quadro FX580 and Radeon HD64...
