Re: A couple of cool fanless cases from Streacom
Think I saw a youtube with DB4+GPU but am not sure but ya, most builds forgo external GPU altogether no doubt due to the lack of heat pipe adapter as mentioned, but that shouldn't stop a dogged DIY'er however, just don't expect to be able to use a high-power GPU board in there.

Anatomy of Flat Heatpipe Thermal-coupling
Thanks guys. Now something extra for fans of heatpipe thermal coupling. The good thing about flat heatpipe is, they can be mounted without any copper block as long as there are flat surfaces on both ends. They are relatively soft and with care, can be hand-bent without any special tools. These heatp...

HD-Plex H1 Modded Bedroom HTPC
Following my Living Room HTPC build, here's followup a smaller, super cute, still manly, fully passive, bedroom HTPC based on the HD-Plex H1 ITX case with some custom mods of course. Re: have clear arcylic cases gone extinct?
Every so often see-thru cases come back but they don't last long. My take is, seeing the innards is only interesting to the builder, and not for long, after a while it feels like a toy, than a serious, cost you a $grand to build.

Re: What fanless cooler (heatsink) for 35-65W intel CPUs?
Whoa, this thread is giving me a headache. Some of u are concerned about the enclosure's temperature, while this is one item, shouldn't we be more concerned about the DIE temperature at the CPU/GPU? On that little square, lots of heats can be generated fairly rapidly and it needs to be dumped out, r...

Good to know, now all I need is whether the AS5 wears out at all over time so I know when to re-paste.

I used Windows HDDSCAN and right away it says AAPM disabled.
From the research I've done so far, for quiet drive, let the user customize at our will, DON'T BUY THE SEAGATE TERABYTE drives, cuz you won't be able to tweak it. FAIL.

Re: Cleaning TRUE?
Your PC innards will get dusty over time, and the crud is stuck to the fan(s) blades. Regardless whether it makes difference or not, I give it a vacuum anyway the times I have to open it up and have to do something. If the fan(s) look real bad and I have the time, I go ahead and unmounted and and br...

Re: Amec Thermasol Flat Cool Pipes
I just installed a 2mm thick x 40mm wide x 400mm long pipe vertically (i.e., the sipes are on top of each other instead of beside each other) and the performance is atrocious. directly over the chip the pipe is scalding hot, but a mere few inches away the pipe is completely cool. (temp sensor says ...

Re: Amec Thermasol Flat Cool Pipes
How do you guys bend your pipes? My 2mm thick x 40mm wide pipes and they seem relatively stiff. Edit: I made a wooden jig to bend to specific dimensions. For freehand bends, I used my thumb to lever the center of a bend. Following the guideline for minimum bend diameter, I too made a jig, really ju...

Re: Amec Thermasol Flat Cool Pipes
An update to this thread, the Thermasols are obtainable, today, by single pieces in the U.S. and I assume the U.K. where it's made, is also available to the rest of the E.U. This THREAD . They "should" be relatively easier to work with as it requires no fitting aluminum/copper blocks. Please post yo...
