Re: Is totally fanless possible with a fanless mini-ITX?

I have an Msi n3150i ECO with this abdolutely miniscule heatsink. It's housed in a Jonsbo U1 case along with an SFX psu and old Samsung 3,5" HDD. The CPU can get to low 70s (Celsius) if I run Prison Architect and a web browser simultaneously. The only fan is in the PSU. I'd feel quite comfortable us...

^^ Have you heard about our lord and savior Jonsbo and their cases? Quietness is pretty much up to what you put in it.

Re: Corsair One: how good will it be?

Tweakers.net Sound Corsair claims that the One in idle state no more than 20dB (A) to produce sound. However, it is not known at what distance has been made that measurement. In our test, we measured from a distance of 20cm, the sound with 38,9dB (A) in idle state is significantly higher. The Corsai...

Re: GTX 970 Turbo review

This thread is legendary and I'm going to hijack it. I just got a 970 Turbo for cheeeap and decided to slap an AC Mono Plus on it. I'm seeing 44C at full tilt, slightly overclocked and undervolted so all good there, but minimum fan speed is around 1000RPM and that's where I've locked it at. It's SPC...

Re: Please help me configuring my quiet PC

Regarding fully passive cards... As long as the minimum fan speed of an actively cooled card is low enough, passive card seems rather pointless as they too do need some amount of airflow. I'm not personally a fan of Nano S thanks to "wasted" space and PSU location but I'm not the one deciding. So if...

I've got the same issue with the V450S. Contacted CM representative (with a video clip of the noise) and they said it's faulty and I should just take it back to the retailer. If the retailer thinks it's not faulty just tell you had a chat with CM about it.

Re: Asus Strix GTX 1070: Not so silent... Review sites wrong

Rule 1:

If something is called silent by other party than SPCR, it's not, because:

The writer doesn't grasp the concepts of quiet, silent and effectively silent.
The testing environment has high noise floor that prevents differences from being shown.
The reviewer is half-deaf.
The review is paid.

Re: Quiet 6700k GTX1080 Lian Li bench with raijintek morpheu

This is one of the three builds in existence that really click with me. The case is minimalistic in size, looks and function. HW on top of it follows the theme. There's nothing useless (except for RAM heatsinks and ODD slot), but there's no need for anything more. It simply works. You can leave it o...

Re: Bitfenix Whisper Series

Those info apply only to the 450/550W models: the larger ones sport a faster fan, which is noisier (min speed around 7-800rpm). I'd expect all of them between 450-850W to have similar fan profiles until 70-80%. Reviewers' hot box temperatures vary wildly so while 25C might not be achieved in a hot ...

Bitfenix Whisper Series

Interesting review from Tom's HW: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/bitfenix-whisper-series-550w-psu,4805-5.html Seems like an all-round decent unit with compelling price (70-80€ for the 450W) and, well, fantastic fan profile. Fully modular, 7yr warranty, 135mm FDB fan, 160mm depth. Mind you, this...

There's of course this if Arctic Cooling confirm compatibility with 1050. Not exactly a compact solution widthwise but should fit a bunch of small sub-20L cases.

If this are similar to what the GTX750Ti were, it shouldnt matter much, my 750Ti never went over 70C no matter the load, and usually it hang below 65C on long time gaming, i honestly never could hear the MSI GTX750Ti in my HTPC even with madvr and lav filters, even though it was underpowered for it...

Did you have any trouble fitting it in? I actually had to remove the fan shroud to get it in into the PCIe slot. Luckily, it just clips on with two tabs on each end. Otherwise I would have been screwed. Are you using NVMe drives btw? Can't see any 2,5" drives. My case only has one detachable suppor...

What's the RPM like in quiet mode? If they run as low as like 500RPM, they're not going to make much of a sound. Could it be possible the pump is making some of that noise?

So you are saying that basically some SSDs do produce enough sound to be audible, but most (if they do produce this level of sound) end up in the inaudible range? But my question is: is this volume loud enough to be audible had it been in a lower frequency range? Is this typical of SSDs to have tha...

That just treats everything as equivalent. That's like saying spending 10 minutes in the sun is equivalent to 3 hours, because whatever you do, outside there will be sun. So that's no argument at all, it just tries to undo arguments by saying everything is equivalent, when the inquiry was about whe...

Re: First Radeon RX EU official pricing seen on web

That doesn't sound logical: at least, here in Italy a second hand 970 Strix or Gaming costs around 220, so that 250 for a *new* 980-class card looks like a better deal. Many models already sell for around 250 new. That'll force second-hand prices down from the current 200. I've seen a few Msi Gamin...
