Re: Braswell motherboards

Thank you very much for your interesting post. Your server configuration is very close to what I'm aiming at (I'm going to add a WiFi mini-PCIe card and get rid of my wireless router). You won't regret it :) - 2Gb DDR3 SODIMM Just to be sure: 1x 2GB or 2x 1GB? The latter delivers better performance...

Re: Braswell motherboards

I received the hardware yesterday. I did some tests likes power consumptions which are interesting (10W in idle with a SSD plugged in). But I'm stuck with a huge problem for me : this board will power my home server. But it won't boot without screen :s I contacted the technical support. I hope I'll ...

Re: Braswell motherboards

I just pre-ordered an Asrock N3150DC-ITX :)
It is expected to be available on 11th this month !

Unfortunately, my wattmeter died yesterday so I'll have to find an other one... Unfortunately Belkin doesn't make them anymore (Belkin Conserve Insight)

Re: Braswell motherboards

Hi! I just joined here after seeing this thread. I have some numbers and observations to share regarding some low wattage computers. I was one of the lucky (or unlucky) people to pick up an ASRock N3150M motherboard while they were available at Newegg. I was purchasing RAM and had been on the fence...

Re: Braswell motherboards

Does anyone know when the Asrock N3150DC-TX will be available to buy in North America (preferably Canada)? Though I'm curious to know when it will be for sale anywhere. It took about 3 weeks to 1 month for the first batch of MB to reach the market, so we should expect the same timeframe for these n...

Re: Braswell motherboards

I wonder how much energy is wasted by using a 500W PSU in the test, because 14 and 21W seems impressive with this kind of PSU ! A picoPSU could achieve less than 10W for the N3050 board :) The Silverstone Essential PSU used in that review has ~74.5% efficiency at 40W with 230VAC in according to Tec...

Re: Low-power NAS build

Guys :) My server is idling 90% of its time. When he is not, he is just streaming files through the network or updating itself... I really don't need to race to idle and I don't transcode media files. I don't need 30Tb of storage as I delete or move old series/movies to a USB disk. Baytrail-D board...

Re: Low-power NAS build

I'll keep my disks, they are recent and 3Tb (Raid 1) is enough for me. Most of the time, they are sleeping so they don't use much power. The NAS will run on a DC system fed by 2x240W solar panels + a battery. It should be enough even during the winter. It is a home NAS so it is lightly used, mainly ...

Re: Low-power NAS build

It seems that ASRock supports 3,5" HDD, they estimate 4 disks with 2 slots or DRAM consumes ~79W for their Baytrail-D boards.
It's more than enough for me as my disks consume ~15W when spinning :)

Our wishes have been fulfilled :D The lower TDP of the Celeron N3150 and the fact it supports C-7 state look promising, but for a really ultra-low power NAS, we need the DC connector. Low-power NAS build

Hi guys ! I've read numerous threads on this forum before posting this one. I'm about to renew my NAS hardware (Atom 330, old PATA drive, 1 PCI tuner card, old PSU, 1 USB smart card reader, 2x 3Tb recent HDD) as it consumes about 55W in idle. It runs headless on Debian (OpenMediaVault distro). I wou...
