Which fans for Prolimatech MK-26 ?

The first thread seems went missing in the overhaul, so here is a repost. Hello guys, long time no see. I have a little more spare time than usual now (!), and I'd like to mod my Sapphire 290X Tri-X OC. As I have a Prolimatech MK-26 and associated Gelid VRM kit, it is going to be mounted. However, a...

Disappeared thread

Hello.

One recent thread of mine has disappeared : https://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/v ... =9&t=70582
The URL says it does not exist, and the thread does not show in the forum list either.
It was about fans for Prolimatech MK-26.

I don't know why it is gone. Any idea?

Re: Phanteks discontinued long time SPCR favourite PH-F140HP

Sorry, what did you mean then? There are the new SQ-series, however. Oh right, and they're brand new, because there were not on the website the last week. Well, looking at the specs, it looks like there are not exactly the same fan with square frame, especially for the TY-141sq which has definitely ...

Re: Mistakenly bought PWM case fans. Options?

Well, that is useful. Where did you get the probes ? I can't comment on FanXpert but the ASUS UEFI lets you specify which sensor to use for each fan. The only flaw is that there isn't really a good sensor to use for GPU temperature. I have an Asus UEFI, and it doesn't let me choose the sensor as wel...

Thanks. All right, I think I'll go fo the TY-147A. Two months spent on Phanteks fans chasing and no luck, anyway.

Re: PHANTEKS fans, how good are they in reality?

Well, the HP and the SP fans are indeed supposed to drop quite low in revs, like ~350 rpm.
I haven't tested myself, but some will surely confirm that.

And if you know where to buy HP or SP fans, please let me know. They seem to be out of stock in all Europe.

Re: Mistakenly bought PWM case fans. Options?

Except FanXpert doesn't let you choose which temperature probe is used to set the fan control. That is its only flaw against an aging Speedfan.

It ended that my reseller actually ordered HP II, so I didn't take them...

Luca, does the XP make you such a good feeling that you would recommend it over the TY-147A ?

Thanks for the heads up, but apparently those are HP-II actually.
Aw, you're right. Sorry.

Then maybe my local reseller has made the same mistake. I'll see when they'll come.

What would be suitable as replacement? Thermalright TY-147A?

Re: Reduced size E-ATX mid-tower

Sorry, I've made a mistake, 10% is around 710-720 rpm. 15% is ~850 and 35% ~1100.
Here is the curve from FanXpert2 :

I was quite disappointed indeed, for the reasons you speak about. I was expecting fans with similar sound delivery.

Re: Phanteks discontinued long time SPCR favourite PH-F140HP

Hi Luca, They are still in stock on caseking.de for 15 €. It won't help you, but I've asked my local reseller where I've got my Phanteks case, and he can still order them from his provider. So maybe you should insist, or just order from caseking. The downside is their delivery rate is pretty high, a...

Hi guys, sorry to have been away for a while without notice. I've been offered an opportunity last week and jumped in. Re: Reduced size E-ATX mid-tower

Thanks for your replies, guys. The problem comes when under load and you're in the 300-400w range, then you need a lot of case air flow for quiet operation. Looking at images of the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX I can't see where the air is supposed to get in/out of the case, the gaps look totally inade...

Re: Reduced size E-ATX mid-tower

IMO no off the shelf case will silence that rig enough for sleeping in same room. As I said previously, this rig IS already pretty quiet in open air. Enough to be barely inaudible. And totally inaudible once my laptop is powered on with its venting tab. If we just forget the sleeping part, what is ...

Re: Reduced size E-ATX mid-tower

What kind of cooling setup do you have? Don't expect miracles from a new case to make it quieter, quietness is best dealt with by stopping the components making so much noise in the first place. For now, Prolimatech MK-26 with 2* Silent Wings 2 120 and Prolimatech Genesis with unknown 140 mm fans. ...

Thanks for your reply. Do you already have these components then? Are they in an existing case and wif so hat is currently wrong with the existing case? Reduced size E-ATX mid-tower

Hello there. I have to house the following components: i7-3770k, Maximus V Formula, 580 GTX SOC, 1 SSD + 1-2 HDD, RM650i. The MVF has a 257 mm width, so it's slightly wider than ATX. So it needs juste a little extra room. But the whole needs a proper airflow. I don't need a perfect silence, but only...

Re: New PSU time!

The price of the RM650i has risen a little, so I had a choice between 125 € on Amazon UK or 135 € in a local reseller. As he may have me a price on a monitor and I had a good feeling, I went for the local reseller. So it's a little more expensive than planned, but it may be worth the cost.

That's right, the Link capabilities look very shiny, especially if it allows a fan management. I don't plan to use SLI in near future, but it might happen. Re: New PSU time!

It may be possible, but in case the mistake lies in summing all the addends: each part draws the most at different moments (the HDD at boot, the GPU when gaming or crunching, and so on). Right, got it. If it isn't available yet, it will likely be, as it's just the newest addition to the Platinum li...

Re: New PSU time!

Your GTX-580 draws likely 40-60W more (peak) than a good GTX-970 (the real difference is under FurMark/OCCT, as your card doesn't have current limiters, so that it would draw 100-120W more). You might look at a good GTX-970 review ( like ths one : those were gaming AC figures, inclusive of conversi...

I'm sorry if you're disappointed, but there's more than a chance you somehow misunderstood or misinterpreted the reviews you were thinking of. I'm not disappointed at all, just a little puzzled. Re: New PSU time!

Well, I'd say quite the opposite: even with that inefficient GPU you shouldn't draw more than 350-400W DC in real life scenarios (actual gaming and overclock), and way less if you should jump onto the Pascal bandwagon after the end of may. Probably the most sensible choice would be a Corsair RM550x...

Re: How quiet are the SeaSonic Snow Silents?

It's hard to say, they were used with different fan controllers (the Sanyo usually start higher): with some large pinches of salt I'd say that the first is higher pitched and a touch whiny, the latter seems more clicky and lower pitched. Quality-wise (reliability-wise) the Sanyo should turn as a ta...

I was somehow quite confident that you've used some online calculator. Well, I trusted this calculator, given you can choose the parts qui...

Re: How quiet are the SeaSonic Snow Silents?

Whether it doesn't whine, it's silent when it's fanless. When the fan kicks in, your mileage may vary depending of the specific SS (the 750 kicks in early but more gently, the 1050 does later but more noticeably), other PC fans, PC placement and PSU mounting. The cheap fan doesn't withdraw it's amo...
