Re: Potential Cause of Coil/Electrical Whine in GPUs Under L

I'm a little confused. Coil whine occurs even in cards that don't have custom coolers on them, and MOST people don't use zip ties to secure their card, so I'm not sure how this helps us figure out the "cause of coil whine" under load. =\

1080ti coil whine

Any experience with 1080ti's without coil whine? Wonder if I have awful luck or they all exhibit some.

Arctic Accelero Xtreme + FE / Titan Xp for quietest GPU?

I'm curious why nobody has suggested just sticking with the Accelero Xtreme air cooler on a founders edition for most silent solution? Is there something with the Accelero Xtreme that maybe I'm not aware of?

Re: Best of 2017

Quietest 1080ti regardless of price: MSI Lightning Z? Only reason Asus Strix isn't my pick is because of many coil whine reports and Asus support being reputedly terrible. FTW3 has weird harmonics and runs hotter/louder to match performance of others, and I tried too many obnoxious AIO hybrid units ...

FTW3 Fan Harmonics at ~1100 rpm?

I was wondering if any other SPCR members who got themselves a FTW3 can see if their cards have some weird harmonics when running either the Power or Memory fans at about 1100-1200 rpm (29-32% fan speed, roughly). They don't have to be running at the same time, a manual control set to that rpm shoul...

Re: FTW3 1080ti Hybrid vs. FTW3

am obsessed with silence. Which would the community steer me towards: the FTW3 or the FTW3 Hybrid card? If you really are obssed with silence, dont go with 1080Ti, its going to be harder to keep a high tdp gpu quiet, most of the reviews are very similar, there are no real super quiet options once t...

FTW3 1080ti Hybrid vs. FTW3

Good afternoon, Choosing a GPU and debating between these two. I use an NZXT Manta chassis, and am obsessed with silence. Which would the community steer me towards: the FTW3 or the FTW3 Hybrid card? If I went Hybrid I would replace radiator fan with my Noctua F12 and keep it around 1000 RPM, but th...

Re: Noctua NF-A8 pwm. Is it too noisy?

Noctua support is amazing so they may take the approach of "who cares just swap it". I agree with Steve: I would NEVER expect a fan to be quiet at anything over 1300RPM, much less 2200 Rpm, and especially an 80mm sized fan, as smaller fans tend to be whinier. Perhaps a better alternative is ditch th...

Re: Silent PC for gaming

Hey guys, I decided to go with the 7700k, since I could get it new for $290 ($310, but I had a $20 coupon from Ebay). I also got the Scythe Kotetsu. I was curious if you guys knew of any silent black fans or black and white fans. Do you think the default GP-12 Fractal fans will be good enough? I de...

Corsair ML Series Low RPM Noise

Was testing out 4 separate Corsair ML fans (2x 120mm, 2x 140mm) and they all make a whirring noise that is audible at low RPMs (anything under 1000RPM its pretty obvious in a quiet PC). Here's an example of the noise I captured: https://youtu.be/th6ax5ud0Pw Very disappointed. These fans look good an...

Re: Which Fan: SilentWings 3 vs. Corsair ML Pro vs. NB eLoop

Well, on the bright side...I've got another option to toss in: Noctua F12 24V iPPC 2000 RPM (and the A14 of the same type for the 140mm intakes). Turns out the 24V versions when run off 12V not only reigns in the RPM to more acceptable levels, but the clicking that is present on the 12V models when ...

Re: Noctua 24V iPPC QUIETER than 12V versions!

the ugly clicking noise is NOT present on the 24V fans! In fact, they sound basically identical to your typical beige F12 (for good and bad). As a matter of fact a 24V 3k is rather similar/almost overlaps the std F12 but at twice the price: does it worth? Well, for alot of these fan choices it come...

Noctua 24V iPPC QUIETER than 12V versions!

I had to share this the moment I tested: I had previously been disappointed to find that Noctua's iPPC fans made a real ugly clicking noise when running at low RPMs. I've discovered many other reports of people with the same findings. On a whim, I ordered the 24V model thinking that if the noise was...

Re: Which Fan: SilentWings 3 vs. Corsair ML Pro vs. NB eLoop

Hey - don't mess with my binary color logic! ;) The fact that those iPPC versions have an atrocious clicking noise at low RPMs hurts me so much, because I loved the look of them. But it's too much to bear. Here's a video I found that perfectly captures what they sound like: https://youtu.be/KSH3uZc...

Re: Which Fan: SilentWings 3 vs. Corsair ML Pro vs. NB eLoop

Yea, it definitely looks that way that silentwings would be the better noise optimized option. As for Noctua as an option mentioned earlier: I don't feel like having beige in my black and white system. And if Noctua really cared about competing, they could easily make a black fan. In fact, why they ...

Which Fan: SilentWings 3 vs. Corsair ML Pro vs. NB eLoops?

***Update 3-16-17*** Well, Corsairs are out of the running due to clicking at low RPMs. (See here: https://youtu.be/th6ax5ud0Pw) BeQuiets are very good, but they just look so bland. And subjectively they didn't feel like they pushed a ton of air around 1000 rpm. Noise blocker look nice, Noctua iPPC ...

Re: State of PWM vs. Voltage Control debate for Lowest Noise

Thank you for the incredibly detailed response. So I'll definitely be going with all PWM fans then to give me that extra level of control. As for the brand, I was debating between the Corsair ML series or the SilentWings BeQuiet 3 (2x 120mm for exhaust and heatsink and 2x 140mm intake), here's why: ...

State of PWM vs. Voltage Control debate for Lowest Noise

Good evening, I rely heavily on SPCR to help guide purchases since I'm a silence freak. This place is awesome. I'm build a new Mini ITX and am using a board that supports PWM everywhere (Asus Impact VIII): CPU, Chassis, and even for more PWM connectors on the included Fan Extension Card. The case I'...
