In this thread on a dutch forum are some good pictures of a NV Silencer 5 on a 6800GT.
The poster reports that the gpu temp dropped 10c and his case temp by 2-3c, and it is much quieter then the standard cooler. Putting the cooler on was dead-easy, easier then the silencer 3.

I feel bad for Macrumors. Those guys were all excited with the new points and then this happens. Either they were very naieve or the large influx of points blocked their ability to reason logically (ie 1+1=?). It was clear right away that this stunk, whatever version of the story is right. edit: af...

Perhaps it's easier (and more effective) to just fill your queue up with 10 WU's. You can read how in my posts in this thread and a bit here.

Ah, that would probably be me. :) First of all, after you have set the preference to gah you have to stop and start the client to make it fill the queue. You will see clearly then in the log that it has downloaded 9 WU's. To view what is in the queue, simply start the (console) client with the comma...

Nope, that doesn't work. :) I tried putting it manually in the client.cfg too but it has no effect. Stanford is doing this on purpose. The tinkers you'll recieve when you switch to gah do not have a deadline, meaning stanford is no hurry to get result back of these projects. So they allow you to sto...

But how would you do it with the console version? And, with the GUI, can you switch back to FAH after you've checked the box in GAH and still have it work? Just start the console up with -configonly parameter, when it asks if you want the change the advanced options answer *yes*. It will then ask "...

Tip: Set it to download work in batches, it will keep the queue filled with WU's. How is that done? Weeee, that even you didn't know that. http://www.leeuwerik.demon.nl/pics/banana_oh_yeah.gif  It's the next question it asks right after the project type. You have to switch to gah for it to ap...

My points rate more than doubled, from about 650-700 to about 1500. It's because most of the machines are "tinkers only", so they are getting much more credit now. So longer as server .108 stays up. ;) Server .108 is the only server issuing the Timeless Tinkers assigned to machines with a client pr...

I don't have any personal goals within the team. When I just joined it was a lot of fun racing up the ranks, but I quickly lost satisfaction after I realised I was overtaking people simply because they didn't have the same means to fold at their disposal as I did (I had 5 pc's folding at work once)....

Bottom filtered intake.. There goes the patent, Bluefront. ;) The 12 cm Real Silent case fan takes in cold air from the bottom of the case. This air is drawn into the case through a fan filter preventing any dust coming into the case. The 12 cm fan in the Nexus power supply draws out the air through...

Now, seriously, how does one "attract" Tinkers? Try switching from fah to gah. I read somewhere that they're sending out small tinkers to gah boxes and I started using that at work where I've got some slooow p3's folding that need up to 2 weeks for regular WU's. And it seems to work so far. Strange...

It's also "luck of the draw" since PF is based on the deadline assigned to each WU. WU's with tigher deadlines will play hell with the PF. All the PF's in my log over the last 48 hrs, in chronological order: 0.982948 99% p520 - 40 days 0.984392 99% p520 - 40 days 0.985817 99% - p563 - 25 days 0.981...
