Re: Silent 13900kf Build (Water?)
About fan response time, check MSI Windows fan control app (some part of Dragon Center?). E.g. ASUS doesn't even have such option in bios (or I remember wrong), but has such slider in his app, Armoury Crate. There're also third party fan control apps which tend to offer more opportunities, but here ...

Re: Silent 13900kf Build (Water?)
With delay time, isn't it MSI board? They have thia stupid range from funny parts of secound like 0,1s to only 1s - it really doesn't make any sense below good 5 secounds. Also Gigabyte isn't much better here with their 3s max, but to be fair maybe both offer higher range in their Windows software -...

Re: Silent 13900kf Build (Water?)
Generally tweaking should be always done first before replacing components. Not the best peformance is sometimes not on component's side, but lack of tweaking ;) Like you said with fan curves, if I understand well, they don't work ideally. My take here is to set case fans in bios for constant (0-100...

Re: Silent 13900kf Build (Water?)
I don't know how are your temperatures after your experiments, but generally there tend to be few aspects warming Intel CPUs above the norm to always check and correct if needed. Setting power limits was one obvious due to air coolers just not being able to handle 300+W this chip is able to pull whe...

Re: Silent 13900kf Build (Water?)
Air coolers are not able to cool 13900K with unlimited power. If you want to use it like that, buy yourself some of the strongest 360 AiO - it will do better thermally and noise wise. My take would be limiting CPU to PL1=PL2=200W - loss of performance will be unnoticeable (up to 10% in the most mult...

Re: Finding Optimal Upgrade Paths
PS2 response time really ? :D I wouldn't think about it and honestly I don't know :D I'm that awfully uncompetetive gamer who doesn't even play mulitplayer games and I prefer using my mouse wireless than wired when I even know that wired connection is faster... I tested my mouse with this traffic li...

Re: Finding Optimal Upgrade Paths
I just don't see a case of needing PS2 in modern times, so I think it shouldn't affect your buying decisions. One thing is that PS2 just works before USB starts to, so may happen useful with some troubleshooting, but for 20+ years with computers I have never encountered situation needing it, so it d...

Re: Finding Optimal Upgrade Paths
There will be some cheap boards having bios flashback feature - it's just more common among more premium boards. This Z690 Lightning doesn't look good. On the first sight possibly too weak power delivery for 13600K, but I would need to dig for it in case of being sure and Intel LAN, potentialy one t...

I hope GN will know how to use it. At worse they'll place here their also funded by viewers fancy fan testing machinery they don't know how to use. Or at best it seems like that due to so much time has passed since they introduced it and their upcoming the best in the industry fan reviews.

Re: Finding Optimal Upgrade Paths
I won't bother with this awful quoting mechanism of this forum : ) True is that DDR5 ram got cheaper to the point of DDR4 not making much sense. On the other hand not much difference DDR5 makes in performance, so I would just choose the board first and let it determine DDR type. I meant F CPUs, so o...

Re: Finding Optimal Upgrade Paths
Found out more about this… It is possible to obtain a Sapphire RX 6700 XT Nitro+ ( for ~300 €, by now ). Does this sound reasonable? This is a model with three fans. In general it's highly unrecommended to go with Radeon GPUs for professional workloads. Better be completely sure that software you u...

Re: What to upgrade?
About fan control, do just how I explained it in my build's thread. First set all case fans in bios to constant inaudible speed. And there's the question, if they are able to run inaudibly? (ofc from reasonable distance, one you sit from them) If not, I think they should be changed, because I find j...

Re: What to upgrade?
Board being just broken is always an option, so maybe it was the case. When you work with electronics, remember to ground yourself before - people not doing it happen to kill motherboards without any sight. The thing with the cooler was one I only heard about and I'm not really convinced, but maybe ...

Re: What to upgrade?
You mean DRAM motherboard led? At first give your PC time to execute first turnin on - then it trains RAM and it may take even up to few minutes without giving screen. If still a problem, first check if all stick sit as they should. Then try it with just two sticks (don't mix sets or channels - manu...

Re: What to upgrade?
I assume that you installed all with reading the manual. On Z790 Steel Legend there're some traps like installing drive in one M2 degrades your GPU to x8 or some M2 doesn't work when other is occupied. Sometimes using some M2 disconnects some SATAs, but I don't recall it being like that with this bo...

Re: What to upgrade?
You bother too much with something not to bother with. There're many ways of applying thermal paste and in fact differences between them are negligible, like one or two degrees. You have to try hard, do it intentionally uneven or use it too little to get noticeably worse results. There're many tests...

Re: What to upgrade?
For thermal paste I recommend Gelid GC Extreme - it's easy to apply, cheap and from the best performing ones, so better than MX-4, but ofc it's like few degrees difference. This contact frame is generally waste of money - it's not meant to help you distrubute a thermal paste, in fact you will have m...

Re: What to upgrade?
No special insights on USBs. I thought Linus had a comment once, but I can't find it. Maybe he was running many USB cords to his server room across his house or what not. Does not matter. I will not worry about this. There may occur problems when plugging via hub some more power hungry devices or/a...

Re: What to upgrade?
I had 13600K(F) in mind, mentioned it in the beginning of previous post when talking about mobos. There's no need to be sceptical about USB hubs with devices you listed before....

Re: What to upgrade?
Most of the time fps and frametime numbers look really well, but CPU gets overhelmed with it's usage when showing equipment of during more intensive fights. It may be six cores of similar potential to your CPU causing this problem or it's just game being broken. Adding here what PCGH said, it's like...

So my CPU is included in this test :) I'll see if I can upload a video of game play on my PC, but for now my numbers are like this: Outside of town my FPS are at 120 all the time. My average FPS is 119, probably because my 1% lows are quite bad. They vary from high ...

With 1489 AUD it looks like they don't break the record of how much a case can be priced, but I know only Phanteks Enthoo Elite costing similar money. Re: What to upgrade?
Right now the price difference up to 13600KF from 13500 is just 35€ here. If that holds, I feel I might as well step up to a true Raptor lake CPU, e.g. the i5 13600KF. Paying 35 pounds more for faster 13600KF may be considered as worth it. It's completely relative, so your decision. Just curious th...

Re: What to upgrade?
Fine, so let's sum everything up: CPU: I would for sure go with 13500 over 12600K(F). In Poland comparable money for both, but 13500 is just better from many angles. And I don't think that paying 13600K premium is worth in your case - you have "only" 4070 Ti and DIV doesn't seem CPU intensive, so bo...
