So what VRM conclusions can we draw from this article: "AMD's 785G Chipset Boards: 780G Evolved" http://www.silentpcreview.com/amd785g given that the MSI board idles 12W less than the Asus board (44W versus 56W)? The MSI board is a 4+1 phase design, versus Asus' 8+2 phase design. Can that equate to ...

One of the concerns I have is how well the the chipset and IGP perform under Linux. I'm seriously considering using Ubuntu or something similar as a main or secondary OS -- not just to muck around with -- so I hope there are no serious compatibility issues. Funny you should mention that - I've been...

How much time will take reviewing the ASUS'es new bios? Tested it earlier in the week. No difference in power consumption. Thank you Lawrence, this information helps me make the decision. I wanted the bigger board since I have the space, but the extra idle power is a deal-killer. Edit: you may want...

Hi folks,
I just got an email response from pctoys.com. They should have the Arctic Fan 8, 9 and 12 available on their website in a few days. This vendor has free shipping for orders over $20, so I tend to go to them when I just need a few odds and ends.

How I quieted the 40mm fan in my Shuttle SN45G
The 40mm power supply fan in my Shuttle SN45G had become quite noisy. I did some research here and saw some pricey 40mm fans mentioned. I also saw mention of the new redesigned Shuttle PC40 SilentX power supply, but it was also a decent chunk of change. After some searching, I found a Top Motor 40mm...

Thank you for both of your replies. The FSB performance isn't as much of a concern with this machine as heat generation, as the PC will be in a shelving enclosure where heat buildup is a concern. I had a second NF7-S motherboard from a second machine I was building, which I swapped into this machine...

Severely underclocking/undervolting a Thoroughbred XP2000+
This should be a pretty interesting read for most of you. :) I am building a video deinterlacing/scaling HTPC (Home Theater PC) machine. The machine uses the ATech Fabrication Heatsink Case , which features small size, excellent airflow management, and an audio component look. It will feature Immers...
