IE woes
One of my computers just sat there, chugging away at units and attempting to send them every 30 minutes. Every time it would attempt to send, my network would blow apart. Latencies into the 5 second range. (not milliseconds - seconds!) It could fetch units and work on them, but the destination serve...

I have two computers, each with multiple processors. As the previous poster noted, you need to run each of the processes in its own directory. You also need to run the console setup program. The setup program will ask you the process number. The first process is 1, the second is 2, etc. You will als...

My 2 year old Enermax power supply has seen 12 changes of fans, has been run 8 hours with no fan melting out every bit of glue holding it together, its case cut and filed with the PCB in place, and most of its external wires cut and bobbed. If the motherboard in that computer had not given out, it w...

I use external radiators, all heat from the CPU and GPU is dissipated outside of the case. The only fan running in my system is a 80mm in the PSU. Over the weekend, it was fairly warm, 80 F. Temperature for CPU 36C, HD 37C, case 38C I am still waiting for a really hot day to see how this system reac...

oops, my PSU is actually a EG465P-VE-FM I probably would have paid that much since it was a replacement for a previous 'gift' power supply that blew up. I have had solid experience with Enermax PSU's. I know that they are happy running hot, since I melted one for 8 hours with no fan and it is still ...

SETI@home routinely sends the same data packet to several different users around the world. If all the results agree, then at least they have some basis to assume that the program is working as intended. In any system, there can be flaws. The GROMACS core itself could have a fatal flaw that renders ...

Biologists have a name for the warm wet environment inside of a watercooled computer: incubator, a perfect media for growing all sorts of nasty critters. I do not use antifreeze. The primary function of antifreeze inside of an automobile is to change the freezing and boiling point of water (it also ...
